Starts Tuesday 7th June

Together was produced by Southern TV it's about a group of characters living in Rutherford Court which is a block of flats. It's a nice little Soap this is the 2nd series the 1st was shown earlier in the year and I imagine it will be repeated again eventually

Quite an interesting watch for those raised on soaps of the 70s and 80s,although modern soap watchers might be disappointed by the lack of high drama. IIRC, The second series was broadcast live.

We did watch quite a few episodes of the episodes shown last month.

Was an interesting watch. Quite taboo stories of the time.

Will be interesting to see the 'live' episodes.. Apparently series two was recorded live where as the first was recorded a few days before broadcast.

It was certainly interesting to see gay characters in a 1980 soap, and how other characters attitudes were portrayed.

It's interesting that this has been dug up for a repeat run after all these years. I'd never heard of it but I was aware that ITV was awash with short lived daytime soaps during the 70's and 80's before the Aussie soaps took over.

Yes,the 70s in particular had a lot of original drama in daytime on ITV. Most of quite a high calibre too. Certainly of a higher quality than the Australian imports which- aside from The Sullivans- were unashamedly soap opera in every sense an era when that was considered a derogatory term.

I asked the channel if there was any chance of them being uploaded to Youtube for a week or two after showing... However I think the lady who runs the channel is planning a DVD release

I discovered The Cedar Tree recently which is quite charming despite it's obvious low budget. I've also read about one from around the time of Together called Miracles Take Longer which was set in the ultra glamorous world of a citizens advice bureau

Can anyone upload them?
The opening credits are available to watch on TV Ark

Some of the others included Emmerdale Farm,General Hospital( probably the soapiest),Rooms( set in bedsit land),Couples( set in a marriage guidance place),Crown Court( not a soap, but ran for 12 years in daytime),Harriet's Back in Town( about a newly divorced woman), Marked Personal,From Maddie With Love( about a woman with a terminal illness) and Taff Acre( set in Wales).

From Maddie with Love sounds like an interesting one. It had a pretty high calibre cast for a daytime soap and it's shooting style was unusual in that sets were made up like a stage play.

I think Gems and Families were the last two daytime soaps before the Aussie ones and repeats of Corrie and ED completely took over on ITV. Until Crossroads came back that is. It's a shame there isn't more daytime drama these days but I suppose it's cheaper and less risky to fill the schedules with game shows and lifestyle programmes.
