Richard Blackwood looks set to leave EastEnders he's appearing in panto in Derby this year. The advertisement doesn't even mention the show just says west end and tv star.

It wouldn't surprise me if he is leaving. He has barely been used recently.

It wouldn't surprise me, him and his mother have been a massive bucket of fail. The great Mitchell feud was a complete damp squib that only served to further DTC's wet dream about all the 'amazing' stuff that happened decades ago between characters we've never met.

I don't mind the actor though, wouldn't mind if he stayed and SOC fixed the character. He almost makes Kim bearable which is a small miracle.

The actor who plays Phil and Ian do Panto Every year, doesn't mean he's leaving.

Lots of cast do panto without leaving - Letitia, Steve McFadden and Adam Woodyatt to name a few.

I feel a bit sorry for RB. The character they created for him was woefully written. What happened to all that police informant rubbish?

If it was me, id scrap Vincent, Donna, Claudette, Les and Pam. None of them particularly work that well as a characters. Claudette could have been good, they could have utilised her more being a foster parent. But instead they chose to rewrite the history of the Mitchell's.

Have to agree. All the characters that came in from Spring Lane are rubbish.

I think they were only brought it for that Mitchell conflict. What a waste of a potentially good character.

I am sad for Richard if this is the case though. He has made no secret EE saved him and the show had been his dream.

He could have been an excellent character - but was yet another 'alpha male' sacrificed at the altar of the brutal boiled egg.

As long as King Weeble remains (forever) there will never be another strong or credible villainous male character again.

I so look forward to the day he is 'owning' 6ft 9 inch tall criminal psychopaths from his Stannah stair lift or chasing them very slowly in a zimmer frame.

So much for Claudette hating Peggy they lost a good chance to have Peggy and Claudette clash like Aunt Sal and Glenda and all they did was once Claudette seen Peggy she ran away like a scared cat

Going off to do panto means nothing he doesn't have to leave permanently which is a shame.

What is he doing in panto being part of the scenery?

To echo others, this doesn;t mean he is leaving
But i would hope it does lead to an exit as I can't stand the character anymore or Blackwood's attempt at acting. He was at his best when he worked for MTV and was an interviewer.

I hope not, I find Richard Blackwood so watchable in the role even when he's been given absolute drivel to deliver. Plus surely there's more to tell in the Claudette story, which was very well received earlier this year?

Ellen Thomas should have been brought in as Ada Fox instead.

If they axe Vincent and Claudette they should axe Kim & Donna too.

I would prefer to see Daphne brought in for Denise and Patrick and where is Jordan now?

I dont think people would miss him that much if he left, but he would not be the first soap actor to do panto, and he wont be the last either.

The Mitchell/Hubbard Feud was not one of DTC strong storylines- it was very weak and pointless.

When not doing panto, they practice being in panto.
