Anyone else agree, the whole setup was terrible and tbh I didn't even know half the people he was supposedly impersonating. The ones I did know were ok but not great. Disappointing as his audition was quite good.
The last few impressionists have been absolutely awful.
That one last year whose name I've already forgotten, Jon Clegg. I was shocked he didn't make the final really, they tend to go for the male impressionist who isn't very good at impressions.
I quite liked his first audition, but I thought it fell apart tonight. I agreed with Simon, I think he was overthinking his act and wanted to do something different, but it would have been better if he just stood there and did his impressions, maybe doing a twist on it like the Mimic Men did going through the alphabet. I don't think it needed the whole restaurant set up.
The problem is that when you see impressionists on the telly usually they're backed by a huge writing team. It's not just doing the impressions but also the content

I agree. The running around to different locations in the restaurant served no purpose. However he might be the first impressionist I've seen on BGT who didn't feel the need to say who each person is meant to be. I think he only mentioned Ant & Dec by name.

I thought he was one of the better impressionists but hey ho. His Alan Sugar was spot on. Unfortunately, couldn't really comment on Gordon Ramsey or Bear Grylls because I don't watch either of their shows.

It's all very well for Simon to say that but his show ultimately tells acts what to do so he was no doubt coerced into that performance only to be torn down for it. I reckon impressionists get a raw deal on BGT, even when they get it spot on they get ripped apart on these forums and their acts also rely on the viewer having prior knowledge of the celebrity in the first place. I'm not sure that any other act requires prior knowledge to enjoy it.
Simon was right, this guy tried to overthink things for his act, he should have just come on, stood centre stage and did his act rather than dashing about like Greg Wallace had just told him there was five minutes left on the clock.
I thought most of his impressions were fairly good however when someone thought his Alan Sugar was Danny Dyer that did make me smile.

Yes, I thought that was wrong...!
(Actually, for those who "didn't recognise" any of the people - although it really wasn't that difficult - you should have stuck the subtitles on. They labelled each one
I didn't rate him at all! With the majority of his impressions I just didn't get who the hell it was and with the few that I did get, they were just now very good at all. Just putting on a Geordie accent doesn't make it an impression of anyone from that area.

Me too until he went on a bit and I clicked it was Alan Sugar. Still prefer the impressionist from earlier in the BGT series I think his name was Paul.
His impressions were spot on and I think he even got a one-off show. Never heard of him again though
He was easily the best impressionist who has been on BGT. It made me want to go out for dinner today, and I can't say that about any of the other acts.
