I have three top fives too - two 5ths and one 4th. My entries just tend to fly past people.

I'm not sure that team contests are that popular and I say that as the last person to host one!

I think that was more because it was the end of the year and not down to the fact it was a team contest. Monte Carlo seemed to have a lot of people taking part and that was a team contest - just poor timing I think.

My point was nothing about timing or amount of people taking part. Let's just say that I've had good experiences of partners but not everyone has and leave it at that!!!

i say lets keep it simple, we dont want to scare of any potential new players.

...okay...

I agree that we should keep it simple. I liked the ideas people were suggesting about having just semis for at least one contest.

You see I feel differently about that. I like the QFs especially if I am doing recaps because if I don't have time to do the QFs I can at least do the semis. If we did semis only then I think whoever does recaps would struggle. Lots of others that do recaps do not always do QFs either. I do think we could cut out the newer countries like Australia etc. Especially Tasmania.

Also I think that the three phases allows some songs to grow on you and some to fall out of favour which keeps things interesting.

Fair enough - I think it might be a nice idea to try them for one contest but it's up to Alex/Lurker/whoever it is hosting. I did bring up the idea of a mini QF for the lesser wanted countries but people didn't seem to like that. I do agree that Tasmania and New Zealand could be cut though, especially with Canada coming along.

I propose another idea which was brought up a long time ago

How about only countries which have appeared at Eurovision - this means making uk up again and keeping countries which could appear like Liechtenstein and Kosovo

Ooh I like this idea.

Somebody left a message on one of my recaps on vimeo but I didn't go on for a while and although I replied to them I don't think they saw it. I've started to leave the web path to the main eurovision forum if that is okay with people. Maybe we will get some new players that way?

Personally I quite like the certain microstates that DSFE has, it gives it a slice of originality. Perhaps, though, they could go on a rota? Like, only two Nordic microstates, one British, one Romance, etc. per contest, and they cycle through?
Idk man, just thinking out loud here

If you want it really simple - rerun contest 1. All the same rules & countries as March 2011.
Disclaimer - not really fully serious. I don't think we should reunite the UK for example.

I've had a user express interest on the Wikia, but that was a month ago.

You know, if you look at sites like Universong etc, they have links to other similar contests. Would it hurt to approach one of these?

That could be an idea, I have also looked at who voted in my 2015 re-vote game and found 6 names that are not quite so regulars on the main thread, so I can try contacting them and seeing if they want to take part. Think I will do it once the next contest has been posted. I could also look at who was voting in the NF revotes and see if what names appear there as well.

I say contacting non-regulars because I think most of the regulars on the main thread would have taken part if they wanted to by now.

We just need someone to take control for that to happen so we need Alex to come on and give us a green light!

Or Alex to confirm that he's passing so Lurker can come in & take us to ****ing. If a contest in ****ing doesn't attract people nothing will.

Massive well done to jackel and winning with Albania! Not surprised it was popular as I'm sure many of us had our eye on it if we got Albania or Kosovo this contest.

Thanks for all the Slovakia votes! (and Norway and India). I was surprised it was so well-received as it was the only decent thing I could find and I wasn't sure whether video 3858359 featuring sweeping shots of autumnal landscapes might be a bit naff, but clearly we are still enjoying them :')

I'm just talking to Lurker about hosting so stay tuned...
