Good luck pining your hopes on that Russian team winning a game.
We will be very lucky to get anything from Wales, they are in a positive frame of mind, and will be seeking to knock us out of the tournament (as with all of the pressure on us going into the last match, you just know that we will crumble). |

I'd say it would be lucky if we get out the group TBH
Then whatever we do, I wont be disappointed

We wouldn't have to be 'very lucky' at all and Russia are more than capable of taking points. If a positive frame of mind helps, they'll be sky high. Please stop going overboard with the kneejerking.

We don't have a strong enough defence to win the tournament. I think judging by the talent we have in the team, quarter finals should be our minimum target, anything less is a failure, anything more is a bonus. We really have to do well as we have become embarrasing, failing to get out the group in 2014, failing to even qualify in 2012 and getting crushed 4-1 by Germany in 2010. Noones asking them to win the thing, but having a decent tournament would make a nice change.

We won the group and went out at the quarter finals in 2012, it was 2008 with McLaren we missed out on completely.

Is it realistic to just hope the yobs can behave themselves so that England don't get disqualified.

Realistic to target a semi finals place, no reason to aim for less with our attacking potential. The defence is not good enough to expect more, in my view, nor is the tactical ability of our manager. I suspect we will not progress beyond the quarter finals, but that should not be the target. Always aim slightly beyond the expected.

But when he downplays expectations so ridiculously, he can start proclaiming that England are the best team in the world if they do beat Wales.
Why on earth would I say that just because we beat Wales, and thus won one match, we are the best team in the world?? Simply put I wouldn't. Please if you are going to speak on my behalf, at least say something remotely likely. |

Because Wales won a game and we drew so now we'd be 'very lucky' to get anything according to you, so it's exactly the kind of wild about-face you'd come out with.

If we do beat Wales (which I hope that we do, I will be backing us all the way to do so), then that will be a good achievement, but let's not go overboard here. It would be three very valuable points, and a starting point on which to build upon. Not anything wild like which is being forced upon me in my name. |

What it wouldn't be however is 'very lucky' which is the point so overboard I've called the coastguard.
You take an opinion and run at 100mph with it into the realm of parody. Commas |

Get out of the group, probably the best we can hope for with our shaky defense and Roy insisting on playing an unfit, out of form Wilshire
Quarters at best for England imo. The first decent team they face will outscore and frustrate them or win on penalties. |

Commas We would have got a very good win against a side who have started off this tournament better then we have, and against a local rival. I am fully expecting a very tough match, and one that if we do win, then it will be a crucial three points, and three points that we really do need to get, if we are to have any chance of topping the group, which should have been the aim before the tournament started. |

It's completely nonsensical for Hodgson to take so many strikers with him if he only intends to play one of them up front at a time and then not substitute that one striker when he is playing shite and England need another goal. It makes just as much sense as Kane's corners and produces similar results

I'm tempted to stick a bet on England not winning a game.

No I do not, no where have I even remotely suggested or even hinted at us beating Wales must mean that we are then the best team in the world.

I didn't say you did. Being very lucky to get anything out of Wales and your rabid obsession with how bad Sterling was however are indicative of what I'm referring to.
They (Wales) are the team who are ahead of us in the league table, they have more confidence them we do, and we will have to overcome all of that to beat them, can we do it, yes, but I don't think it will be an easy task by any means. |

I know that they (Wales) won their game (of football) and we (England) drew (resulting in one point, rather than three (a win earns three)) yet despite that (the aforementioned), England (male senior football team) absolutely won't need to be 'very lucky' to have a hope of getting a result, and it's not speaking ill or taking anything away from Wales to say that.

Jesus, Christ. If you think that at I'm calling Wales some kind of walkover or that it'll be an easy game I have no idea how you see words.

But I don't think you're grasping the impossibility of how impossibly impossible this impossible task is.
