No I have never said such a thing, I have said that it will be a tough match, and one in which we will do well to come away with a win, that is very different from saying that we have no chance.

Yeah that does seem about right if we get out of the group.

We should beat Wales. They just aren't a good team apart from Bale.

Anything less than 7 pts from this group is a disgrace.

We should have beaten that Russian side, unfortunately being a better team on paper doesn't always pan out in reality.

Still, I will be fully behind the team, and willing them to go ahead of Wales in the table.

You said "We will be very lucky to get anything from Wales"

That's not the sound of a tough match, that's a hiding to nothing. That's how you'd describe Northern Ireland playing Germany, not England playing Wales.

No it is not, it is saying that we will be in for a tough match, and that we will do well to get the points that we need from the match.

I can't imagine why that journalism career didn't take off.

Simple really, as I had other far more important priorities at the time.

And because you're a 30 year old man with an understanding of language that would embarrass a 10 year old.

Nope, that is not the case at all, no need to get personal and insulting, over such a trivial matter.

Germany and Spain usually manage to squeeze a win in those situations though when it matters... that's a fundamental difference.

Realistic target: To survive the fans and get out of the flipping group

Let's drop it now, as this is moving away from the thread topic, and into something else.

Yes, as we just saw with the latter of your two examples, we don't seem to have it in us to do what those nations do on a regular basis at tournament football.

They are 4th favourites so getting knocked out by one of top 3 in a competitive game would be fair result.

If they win group portugal 1/4 finals and germany semis
if the come 2nd then france in 1/4 finals
if they come 3rd then germany or spain in 2nd round

Obviously dependent on these teams winning their games. I have a bet on germany and england, I think england could do it. No one is particularly good this year

I agree it is an open tournament, and so far no one has stood out from the pack, even Germany had their issues against Ukraine.

Saying that though, I would still be shocked if England got to say the semi finals.
