Corrie 23/05/16: In Private
Cobbleheads!
![]() Welcome to the first Corrie thread of the week. Corrie’s on at 9pm each night from Monday – Thursday after Britain’s Got Talent so hopefully we’ll see an increase in quality from some of the rubbish we’ve had to endure recently. {I'm not holding my breath on this though!} ![]() Thanks to Aggie, Purves Grundy, notdebbiedingle and CollieWobbles for last week’s episode threads. Hope you’ve all had a good weekend. Details of just what The Hat has lined up for your “viewing pleasure” can, as always, be found by clicking below.

Thank you for the thread, let's hope we get a small improvement on last night's dreadful episodes of both Corrie and BGT.

What? Was her head showing? I strayed onto the Daily Mirror and Ian Hyland writing about Corrie. He's got it right and the stuff he says about Corrie is true. His main complaint is the bigging up of Carla and Nicks storyline Like he said, I just don't care |

Love this bit: "It's not good enough to simply plunk an issue from a newspaper, turn it into a storyline over night and then shrung 'Well, it could happen'" |

Hi everyone by the way & thanks for the thread RK!! ![]() Congrats McCaffep on the challenge!!

Totally agree with that article. Any soap or drama lives and dies by the quality of its plots and storylines and, whilst Stuart Blackburn has been in charge the plotting and storylining simply hasn't been good enough. Any other show with a less loyal audience would have seem a massive drop in viewing figures and questions would no doubt have been asked at ITV Towers. It is, of course, very easy to lay the blame for the state of Corrie at the feet of Stuart Blackburn and, to be fair, he must take the lions share of the blame. But the writers and directors must take their share of the blame too. Who on earth decided that the current incarnation of Gail was a good idea Helen Worth must cringe every time she opens a script and each time she's directed to give her simpering, weak , pathetic look. What happened to the strong woman that stood up to Ivy, dealt with Sarah's teenage pregnancy, brawled with Eileen on the Street and coped with the aftermath of Richard Hillman?Ultimately , of course, the blame lies with the ITV execs who appointed Blackburn to the producer's post in the first place and who left him there for so long. Their lack of judgement only says to me that they're not fit for purpose either. Corrie is one of ITV top rated shows and any executive worth their salt should be protecting and nurturing it rather than neglecting it and taking it for granted. |

Evening all & TFTT RK.
Has Tracy ever shared a scene with Phelan? Might be good, they could take each other out. And I don't mean for a half a pint of mild. |
