I was watching old clips of Coronation Street on YouTube and I noticed something really weird!!

At first Peter Barlow didn't want Simon, he tried to sell him, got quids in, changed his mind cos of money and was pissed as a fart at his nativity. Peter is an ex alcoholic

A few years later Kylie didn't want Max, she sold him, got quids in, changed her mind cos of money and was pissed as a fart at his nativity. Kylie is an ex smack head

So at first Peter and Kylie were both unfit parents, addicted to booze/drugs, money grabbers and didn't want Simon and Max

I dunno if this was a genuine coincidence but comparing both these, the scenes are really similar. Is it a rehash?

Makes me wonder if Kylie was intended to be like a female version of Peter at first, except she wasn't an alky

So.... Is it a coincidence or just lazy writing?

Yeah he did. There was a bit where he tried selling Simon to a randomer in the pub

Must be a Barlow trait, I can't remember him trying to sell him, he seemed fond of dumping whenever it suited, same as Tracy.

Ahhhh my bad. He didn't try selling him, your right, he just asked the bloke, "do you want my kid?" So I think he just tried to get rid of him

Soaps are always rehashing storylines. Only difference is Peter was pissed and regretted it the next day, whereas Kylie did actually extort money out of Becky and Steve.

Did he have an alcohol induced premonition of things to come?
