Okay, here's how I think it played out (BT in italics)
Week 7
Friday 20:00 - Everton v Crystal Palace - Package E - 4th pick
Saturday 12:30 - Swansea v Liverpool - Package A - 1st pick
Sunday 12:00 - Man Utd v Stoke - Package B - 5th pick
Sunday 14:15 - Tottenham v Man City - Package C - 2nd pick
Sunday 16:30 - Burnley v Arsenal - Package G - 3rd pick
Assuming 1st and 2nd picks are what we think they are, then I don't see how 3rd, 4th and 5th could be anything else as Package D has only 1st and 4th picks.
Week 8
Saturday 12:30 - Middlesbrough v Watford - Package A - 2nd pick
Saturday 17:30 - Crystal Palace v West Ham - Package B - 5th pick
Sunday 13:30 - Chelsea v Leicester - Package C - 4th pick
Sunday 16:00 - Southampton v Burnley - Package D - 1st pick
Monday 20:00 - Liverpool v Man Utd - Package E - 3rd pick
Sky certainly took picks 1 to 3. The only question is did they have fourth pick too - and I think they did. BT will look to show a big team in every weekend Package F pick so I think Palace v West Ham is a fifth pick in Package B.
Week 9
Saturday 12:30 Bournemouth v Tottenham - Package A - 2nd pick
Saturday 17:30 - Liverpool v West Brom - Package B - 3rd pick
Sunday 13:30 - Man City v Southampton - Package C - 4th pick
Sunday 16:00 - Chelsea v Man Utd - Package D - 1st pick
With Chelsea v Man Utd a first pick in Package D, and no Monday/Friday night game, I think that means Liverpool v West Brom is a third pick from Package B.
Week 10
Saturday 12:30 - Sunderland v Arsenal - Package A - 1st pick
Saturday 17:30 - Crystal Palace v Liverpool - Package F - 2nd pick
Sunday 13:30 - Everton v West Ham - Package C - 5th pick
Sunday 16:00 - Southampton v Chelsea - Package G - 3rd pick
Monday 20:00 - Stoke v Swansea - Package E - 4th pick
I've said in the past that Sky don't like surprises and as such are willing to give up decent fixtures to be certain of what BT will do. We need to remember that BT have Liverpool v Chelsea and Chelsea v Man City to come in the midweek rounds later in the season. As such they will not take more than one Chelsea game in their weekend Package F games. So I think Sky gave up second pick in Weeks 10 and 11 knowing that once BT knew they had Chelsea v Everton, they wouldn't be tempted to also take Southampton v Chelsea which Sky wanted as a Package G third pick (vice versa would have worked fine as well). So I think Palace v Liverpool is a second pick in Package F (note BT went on to fill the Palace quota with their home game with West Ham).
Week 11
Saturday 17:30 - Chelsea v Everton - Package F - 2nd pick
Sunday 12:00 - Arsenal v Tottenham - Package B - 1st pick
Sunday 14:15 - Liverpool v Watford - Package G - 3rd pick
Sunday 16:30 - Leicester v West Brom - Package D - 4th pick
I reckon this was the cause of the hold up. If I were Sky I wouldn't be happy about BT being allowed to shuffle up Super Sunday when the Saturday 12:30 slot is available and I would have challenged this strongly.
Week 12
Saturday 12:30 - Man Utd v Arsenal - Package A - 2nd pick
Saturday 17:30 - Tottenham v West Ham - Package F - 4th pick
Sunday 16:00 - Middlesbrough v Chelsea - Package D - 1st pick
Monday 20:00 - West Brom v Burnley - Package E - 3rd pick
The West Brom v Burnley game looks a wasted third pick on the face of it. However, we should remember that BT can pass third pick back to Package G. So I suspect Sky took third pick in Package E to avoid having to use Package G.
Week 13
Saturday 12:30 - Burnley v Man City - Package F - 2nd pick
Saturday 17:30 - Chelsea v Tottenham - Package B - 1st pick
Sunday 12:00 - Watford v Stoke - Package G - 3rd pick
Sunday 14:15 - Arsenal v Bournemouth - Package C - 5th pick
Sunday 16:30 - Southampton v Everton - Package D - 4th pick
Again, I reckon Sky could have been confident that BT would take Burnley v Man City with the second pick. I have previously speculated that Packages G, C and D could not be used in the same week but I think that Watford v Stoke could be a Package G game. It would max Sky out of Watford in that package but that wouldn't be a problem given that their bank holiday fixtures are Palace at home and Stoke away. Alternatively it could be a Package E game and that Sky were allowed to put it on the Sunday to avoid a possible clash with the League Cup Quarter Finals. But then why not show it on the Friday night?
A final piece of house keeping. As has been noted, Southampton feature rather a lot in the Sunday 16:00/16:30 slot. Whilst the selection of Man City v Southampton in Package C means that quota is filled for the Saints anyway, I am still inclined to think that West Ham v Southampton is a Package C game moved to 16:00 due to the absence of Package D/G game.
So where does that leave us? I reckon BT have two fourth picks in Package F. I'd say Chelsea and Man Utd are off limits for these. I have Arsenal on three appearances in Package B. I think it is important that BT resist the urge to pick a game like Swansea v Arsenal and instead try to get them in one of their two remaining Package F weekend games. With 18 games remaining, I have BT needing to fill min quotas for Bournemouth, Burnley, Hull, Southampton, Swansea and Watford.
And what of Sky? I reckon they have one or two Package G games left. Crucially they have got their weekend showings of Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. With Spurs having decent Boxing Day and Jan 2 fixtures, that just leaves Man Utd. The Red Devils host Sunderland on Boxing Day and given the identity of the Black Cats new manager, I wouldn't be surprised to see Sky pick both Man Utd v Sunderland on Boxing Day and West Ham v Man Utd on Jan 2.
So Sky have adjusted their approach to ensure they fully utilise Package G. However, I think this has come at a cost in terms of weekend quality in the first third of the season. It pains me to say this, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Spurs at the top of the league come the autumn. Sky are showing just four of Tottenham's first 13 games and given that we expect them to give up Man Utd v Spurs in Week 15, I can see them having to pick Spurs v Swansea in Week 14 - a game which could be restricted to Friday or Saturday. Another thing that's fallen by the wayside is Sky's sense of meritocracy. I'd worked to the assumption that Sky would want to show each team at least three times by the end of November. Well, after tomorrow lunchtime, Sky will not be showing Hull City before December.
Perhaps Sky have gotten the pain out of the way early on, and to a certain extent that is the case. But I do think that the new packages make life easier for the secondary rights holder. While BT's games so far don't look much different to what they've had before, they are in a stronger position in respect to quotas an in terms of what picks they have left.
