I did read on Twitter earlier this week that the date this season might be the 12th which probably seems more likely now.
Hull City website has these

December & January Fixtures: 12th October
February Fixtures: 12th December
March Fixtures: 25th January
April Fixtures: 27th February
May - First Fixture Programme: 6th April
May - Second Fixture Programme: 13th April
May - Third Fixture Programme (if there is one): 20th April
May - Final Weekend: N/A

Chelsea has the same dates (posted in August)

Obviously we can't be sure they're independent sources though (ie. it's possible one copied the other's info).

The 12th December is a very sensible date.
Group Stages finished in Europe
EFL Cup will be into Semi Final stages

Must be a record even for Sky

Sky Sports in a plugging their own content shocker. BT plug their own content multiple times per match. I'd understand if it was being plugged weeks or months in advance but considering the season resumes in five days, is it really that shocking?

If it was that big a game it wouldn't be being played on a Monday night.

I wonder if Sky are using the Sunday 4:00pm kickoff time to show less big games in that slot than they have done in other seasons.

The theory is this (and this is only my own personal theory) is that a lot of people will watch the Sunday 4:00pm match anyway, almost regardless of who the two teams are. It has been considered to be the main timeslot on Sky for a big match.

However putting a big match on Monday evening, means that in fact viewers will actually watch two matches, rather than the one they might have done if Southampton v Burnley was on the Monday night. Now people will watch the Southampton v Burnley match on Sunday at 4:00pm (because of the timeslot for the match) and then also watch Liverpool v Manchester United on Monday evening, simply because it is Liverpool v Manchester United.

I have not done any research on this, or got any data or stats etc, to back this point up, but it is a theory I have had for some time now.

This sounds very plausible to me. I definitely fit this category.
In a normal (European) week I will usually always watch a Sunday game and 1 champions league game.
It has to be a special match to get me to tune in outside of the normal slot.

This Sunday there is no MOTD2
BBC waiting for the game on Monday and showing it then
Will they get Lineker to broadcast ??

It's CL week for him so maybe not

Well, probably not, as that's never been the case in the previous seasons when they've moved MOTD2 to the Monday to take in the Monday game as well. They've done it a couple of times in recent seasons and I assumed they would do it this week.

Anyway, if Lineker was going to present it, why wouldn't they do that every time there's a big game on a Sunday?

I hardly watch MNF well except when Everton are playing, as I prefer to listen to Talksport in the evening.

Great point. Didn't Walker present it at the end of last season when Chelsea and Spurs drew handing Leicester the title? Doesn't get bigger than that.

Lineker was watching game at home and they showed him watching tv !!

Lineker does not live near Manchester so going up there wont make sense to him
When he has Tuesday and Wednesday in a nice London based BT Studio

He's not - it's going to be like a normal episode of Match of the Day 2, just on Monday instead of Sunday.

Bar Mon night this rounds picks are poor, none of the top 3 shown including 1st v 5th, why not? It's not like the teams in these positions are a surprise. And given the poor games why has a 5th pick been wasted. Awful choices.

Champions League restricts Sky to one of Leicester, Man City, Arsenal and Spurs. They chose Leicester. Sky probably used a Package A game to fill the Middlesbrough and Watford quotas. The fifth pick belongs to BT, again quota filling.

Guess it is Quotas, think this will be the second season running Manchester City v Everton hasn't been picked.

You would have thought it would be a really good 2nd pick for BT.

I know there is Champions League Games, which causes a problem for Sunday, but you could say if Man U are being made to play on Monday/Thursday.

You would have thought some teams could have played Sunday/Wednesday, especially if playing at home, maybe the clubs on Wednesday aren't playing at home in the UCL

I reckon BT could have used a fourth pick in Package F rather than a fifth pick in Package B. They have a problem, however, with Everton. By the time their pick in Week 8 came around they would have already picked Chelsea v Everton as a second pick in Package F. Everton v Arsenal is a certain midweek pick and potentially BT will want to show Man Utd v Everton in Week 31. So BT couldn't pick Man City v Everton if they want both of those midweek games.

As for Sky, remember that Chelsea v Leicester is a Package C game that was originally intended to be played on the Sunday. It was swapped with Middlesbrough v Watford as Leicester are playing on Tuesday night. In hindsight, Sky could have also picked Man City v Everton as well as we now know that Man City and Leicester were paired in the Champions League (meaning that they'd be playing on different nights). However, I reckon that information is not shared by BT.

That makes sense.

I know down the years, even with Everton not being a regular top 6 team, there big games, against the top 6 have general been shown.

And with no Newcastle or Villa in the Premier League this season, I thought there games, would trickle down to Everton and West Ham, who are generally th next in the ranks
