Now Everton have made a good start I expect them to feature a few times in todays TV picks
We have but you could say we have had a relatively easy start to the season, We play Man City, this weekend, but until now, the only big club we have played is Tottenham.

Today's picks what time are they out?

I'm predicting the Everton game with Liverpool will be a TV pick.

However, I reckon that information is not shared by BT.
I wouldn't be too sure about that.

The CL is organised by UEFA and UEFA will formally make the TV pairings. Sure BT is rights holder and may have input but the formal decision is made by UEFA.

Once UEFA has made that decision I would have thought they would communicate it to the PL and it would then be information which the PL would make available to all interested parties.

I don't really see the issue re next weekend's picks - Sky has Liverpool v Man Utd and Chelsea v Leicester - a big 5 club v last year's champions, indeed the 2015 champions v the 2016 champions.

Sure they have two very weak games but it's the nature of the system that they have weak games and with 10 extra games this season and no rise in max quota they will inevitably have many more weak games than previously.

Putting two weak games on the same weekend as the biggest TV game of the season and when they have a second strong game does not seem to me to be particularly surprising. Indeed it might well be thought that it is what would be expected.

I should have phrased that better. We didn't know if Man City were going to be in the Champions League at the time the Week 8 picks were made. I don't know how much input BT have into the pairings, but presumably whoever made the call had already decided that Arsenal and Spurs were being kept apart come what may. Had the PL/Sky known this they could have allowed Man City v Everton to be picked on the Sunday and Chelsea v Leicester to be picked on the Saturday with the games being swapped if needed.

That said, I agree that Sky will have more lower profile games this season and they might have skipped Man City v Everton anyway.

You would have thought some teams could have played Sunday/Wednesday, especially if playing at home, maybe the clubs on Wednesday aren't playing at home in the UCL
There's absolutely nothing wrong with Sunday-Wednesday, regardless of where teams are playing in Europe.

If a team plays 1.30pm Sunday then they have 90 minutes more "recovery time" than Saturday (3pm)-Tuesday; if it's 4pm, then it's only an hour less - which for professional athletes really shouldn't make a difference.

Even allowing for Leicester and Spurs both playing on Tuesday, presumably the latter could have been shown on Friday, displaced from a Sunday slot, had Sky felt the inclination? (Friday was usable this week, in spite of the international break).

I reckon, however, Sky are just filling quotas on what is a pretty poor week, all things considered (one game aside).

Well it's not usable if the clubs haven't agreed to Fridays after international breaks. Until a game is scheduled as such we should assume they are off limits.

I suspect the Championship clubs do as they're told.

The Premier League clubs might get a surprise and have to play at 5.30pm on New Years Eve yet

Yes it did seem odd that Sky picked an evening game ??

Thought it was due to Scottish match on at lunch

But maybe they are going up against BT's PL game

I'd have thought the Christmas picks would have been quite straightforward given that it's basically up to Sky. And issues around kick off times on New Year's Eve should have been sorted out months ago.

^ He's not being serious: there's nothing on Man United's Twitter feed about matches being changed (unless, of course, none of the games are being changed - and that's about as likely as me actually being in bed with Tom Hiddleston).
