really strange day to have a (pretty uninspiring) triple header given there's plenty of live sport on free to air tv today

Watford vs Stoke and Chelsea vs WBA are 5Live games despite being in the TS time slot. Might help
Thanks but they are not in the TS time slot.
The package C slot is 1330 or 1415
So TS have Liverpool today

It does however suggest that Chelsea v West Brom is package F as on BT but not TS

The Watford game is suggested as an extra package D which is also R5
This also suggests that Southampton v Everton could be G which is also on R5

Unless we're wrong about the process, Boro v Chelsea is a first pick in Package D - I can't believe BT passed up the opportunity to show Man Utd v Arsenal.

The two Chelsea games that are possible Package Gs are Southampton (a) and Hull (h). I still think Southampton v Everton is a Package G game which would rule out Southampton v Chelsea, and Chelsea v Hull looks like it's been picked to fill the Hull quota. So we should be on the look out for another Hull game in the Sunday 16:00 slot.
Need to have another look now

Talksport have now put Everton v Man C on their schedule

So that suggests this is package C and not G

I thought that. It's a low key round of fixtures this weekend.
Can't fathom why BT chose to have two, and Sky a triple header up against the F1 too.

A fair few complaints on Twitter about the United game not being shown. What's the max in this package, seven?

Five in Package D and two in Package G. We think Man Utd v Leicester was the weekend Package G game for Man Utd, though it was switched to the Saturday due to the Champions League. Ultimately it comes down to Sky 'only' being able to show Man Utd 21 times out of 35 rounds.

Thanks TLG86. I'd initially got the packages mixed up but turns out it was the same anyway.

So now a possible G game was Man City v West Ham in week 3

TS have 12-3pm on Sunday, 5Live after 3pm, or that's how it was. When there's been a triple header in the past, TS have had the midday/2pm KOs

I found it odd that 5Live went for Soton/Everton over Man Utd, it must be contractual.

It's changed this season. It appears that the radio games now mirror the TV packages. In the past, TS used to get all of the games in certain time slots. Now it looks as though TS get games in Packages B and C.

And I was going to mention 5 Live doing Southampton v Everton rather than Man Utd v West Ham. I reckon in the past 5 Live would have done Man Utd even though it wasn't the game picked for TV. Now, however, I think 5 Live have to do the game picked in Package D/G.

So why was Watford/Stoke at midday while BT had Sat lunchtime game (which was also on 5Live)?

TalkSport Live, the international radio service also did Soton vs Everton & given any outlet would always choose a Utd game over any other, shows the contract stipulates TV chosen games.

The Burnley v Man City game was probably a second pick from Package F. As Sky didn't pick a Package A game, this meant BT could use the Saturday 12:30 slot rather than having to use the Sunday 12:00 slot. I believe that 5 Live have the midweek games and therefore also the weekend games from Package F.

We don't know for sure, but it looks as though Sky picked Southampton v Everton as a third pick in Package G - and chose to put this in the Sunday 16:30 slot - and then Arsenal v Bournemouth as a fifth pick in Package C (on TalkSPORT).

The Watford v Stoke game looks like a Package D (fourth pick) quota filler and as the Sunday 16:30 slot was already occupied, Sky were allowed to put it in the Sunday 12:00 slot. An odd looking Sunday triple header can probably be explained by Sky's desire to fill some quotas.

Did TS announce Arsenal v Burnley before Everton v Man City? If so, that might cast doubt on the radio theory.

So now a possible G game was Man City v West Ham in week 3
I have this horrible feeling that Hull v Man Utd will turn out to be a first pick in Package B. That said, it's still possible that BT passed first pick back to Sky and that Hull v Man Utd is a fifth pick in Package B with BT opting not to use a fourth pick in Package F (sensible as they had Watford v Man Utd in that Package).

Also, if Everton v Man City is not a Package G game, that still makes me wonder why Sky passed up Leicester v Everton on Boxing Day. Perhaps the picks they went for gave them a better mix of teams at Christmas. Or perhaps Everton v West Ham in Week 10 was a Package G game.

Everton v West Ham was on TS so suggests C

Talksport announce games in order
They announced Leicester v Chelsea one week
Then a week later Eve v Man City
Today they have announced both
Mcy v Tot and Ars v Bur

So that suggests Liverpool v Swa is Pack F

The fifteen games originally scheduled for Sun 1330 / 1415 have all been on TS
So that suggests Package C games are
Bournemouth v Man United
Sunderland v Middlesbrough
West Brom v Middlesbrough
Crystal Palace v Stoke
Tottenham v Man City
Chelsea v Leicester
Everton v West Ham
Liverpool v Watford
Arsenal v Bournemouth
Bournemouth v Liverpool
Man United v Tottenham
Bournemouth v Southampton
Watford v Tottenham
Everton v Man City
Arsenal v Burnley

All quota used except Hull and Swansea

Very light on Chelsea

Would not be surprised by Chelsea v Swansea before EFL Final ??

Suggestion for Week 22
B1 Man City v Tottenham
F2 Swansea v Liverpool
G3 Chelsea v Hull
E4 Southampton v Leicester
C5 Arsenal v Burnley

That frees up a Package D for Chelsea
And uses up their Package G allowance

Radio 5 appear to have both D and G

Ah yes, I was forgetting that Everton v West Ham was TS. Perhaps Sky just wanted to leave their options open with Everton so avoided Leicester v Everton.

No surprise to see Liverpool v Swansea in Package F.

We'll be able to speculate a lot more about Week 26 once we know the semi final line up for the EFL Cup. But, yes, Chelsea v Swansea is a possible pick for Package C.

Suggestion for Week 22
B1 Man City v Tottenham
F2 Swansea v Liverpool
G3 Chelsea v Hull
E4 Southampton v Leicester
C5 Arsenal v Burnley

That frees up a Package D for Chelsea

Maybe, but that would leave the Hull quota in Package D unfilled.

Hull play both Liverpool and Arsenal in February
Quota could easily be used then

Think it would be a huge surprise for a Chelsea package to be used up so early
Especially as Sky like to show all title contenders last 5 or 6 games where they can

Package F
Last midweek
BT bound to show Che v ManC
They cant show
Arsenal v West Ham
Liverpool v Bournemouth

So you would think ManU v Everton

But what if Sky show
Ars v ManC
Liv v Eve on the Sunday before ??

Messes up BT

So BT would hope to get a high pick on Apr 1st ??

Remember, Sky need to fill the Hull quota in Package C. I've penciled in Hull v Liverpool for that. I suppose Arsenal v Hull is a possible too, but I think we should know one way or the other after the February picks.

I reckon the PL protect BT in this regard. Thursday is off-limits because Man City and/or Leicester (who play Everton in Week 32) may have a Champions League game the following Tuesday. So I think the PL wouldn't allow Sky to have Liverpool v Everton and Arsenal v Man City on the Sunday of Week 30.

Southampton v Leicester January 25tb clearly bites the dust as a Monday game so I assume it's just replaced as some point at another time

From PL site when fixtures were announced:
Monday 23 January
8pm Southampton v Leicester City (Sky Sports)*
*In the event of Southampton participating in the League Cup semi-finals, this match will move to Sunday 22 January, 12.00pm and remain live on Sky Sports

Might not be as straightforward as that on that basis this semi would be Wednesday 25th however Chelsea v hull is the Sunday so hull v Man United can't be the Tuesday
