I see the untouchable one, Anthony Cotton, has just signed another years contract with Corrie

Let's just think about that sentence for a while and let it sink in.....

.............another year of Sean...........

His contract renewal must of been down to Kate Oates. But then he is a popular character and Kate would be daft to remove him, whether we like him or not.

Maybe someone should suggest that he tries his hand at doing another chat show but this time on Syrian TV.

I think he is. Try criticising him on the Corrie Facebook page and you bring down the wrath of his fans. I genuinely don't get it. I have no interest in what Antony Cotton is like as a person as I am never likely to have to interact with him. But he is an appalling actor playing a deeply unpleasant and unfunny character. You could ignore him if he was just a background character but he seems to be shoved into any and every remotely dramatic storyline, bringing it down with his pouting and gurning. Painful.

This dampens my view of Kate Oates - does she really believe Cotton has anything to offer the show? or is she been told from above her that Cotton cannot be axed?

Most likely the latter. Jonathan Harvey likely has a say as well

If the deadwood remains the show wont improve.

Where has the information in the OP come from? I have a feeling that this headline is produced about every three months as though it were news.

A good reason for me to finally give up on what was once great show that I have watched from the first episode in 1960.

Your only hope is Tracy doing her Jean Valjean hounding of Carla number on him. He's not as strong as Carla so it wouldn't take too long to have him sobbing, face down, in a bowl of Betty's hotpot.

Cotton has a great life- money, success, boyfriend, nice home

are we all simply a little jealous, because lets face it- he has zero talent but is making a fortune if he is on 100k+ a year.

Ooh, the J-card I rather wonder if they show Corrie in some parallel universe where he's popular

Great news.

AC is easily the strongest cast member and Sean is fast becoming one of soap's most legendary characters.

When are ITV going to announce their STELLA WEEK style celebration of all things Sean?

Can anyone remember his flop teatime chat show? He thought he was the new Paul O'Grady at that point. If it had worked I bet he'd have left Corrie.

Even if he is popular (I'd describe him as marmite at best), he adds absolutely nothing to the show. The money they're throwing at him would be better spent on a character who is both popular and adds to storylines.

Yeah it was crap, maybe that's the reason why ITV are so keen to keep him in Corrie so he won't be tempted to do another one.
