If so, it's kind of a smack in the face for all the acts that rehearsed for hundreds of hours and had to get it right first time.

My suspicion is that this is for retakes for technical malfunction rather than human error. Looks like the drones are plotted on a 3D map but if there are communications (I.e. Wireless link lost is a room with a lot of RF interference radio mics, IEMs) that could cause them not to work or not work as planned.
It's inevitable that when the costs come down, people will be dancing with humanoid and four legged robots on future versions of this show.

Yeah, where's the girl? It was good but I would have liked to see more interaction with the drones. And yeah, there was a buzzer sound but no X's.
