Beyonce vs Rihanna.
Who do you consider the better artist?
I'm going to say Beyonce. Incredible voice, exceptional dance skills, amazing songs. Views? |

This thread will most likely cause chaos!! For me it's Beyonce. She's a consistently amazing performer. She's the better singer, dancer, performer. Better music. Rihanna has a great back catalogue of hit singles, but apart from Rated R, she has never made a really good album...in fact her most recent album is probably her worst. Beyonce has developed as an artist over the years and her albums are now full bodies of work. She has a career spanning almost twenty years involving time both in a girl group and as a solo artist. During this twenty year career she has been consistently good. She has got better and better and became even more popular.

this is tough. beyoncé is the better singer but i have enjoyed anti far more than any of beyoncé's full albums. i'd rank their albums like this;
1) Anti 2) Beyoncé 3) Lemonade 4) Rated R 5) Good Girl Gone Bad 6) Four 7) B'Day 8) Loud 9) Talk That Talk 10) I Am... Sasha Fierce 11) Unapologetic 12) A Girl Like Me 13) Dangerously In Love 14) Music Of The Sun so i guess i would say i prefered rihanna. |

Beyonce is the better live performer
Rihanna has more hit songs I like Rihanna's songs more than Beyonce Beyonce has the better voice Overall I think I am more impressed by Beyonce's voice but I like Rihanna's music more. (Don't like either of their personalities though - Rihanna used to be so fun in interviews but now she just comes across as aloof and above it all and like she's trying hard not to roll her eyes. Beyonce just leaves me cold and comes across so fake and insincere) |

Are you guys having a laugh? Beyonce and Rihanna do not write their own songs, yet you are praising them for their songs. That is the problem with "artists" like that and why they annoy some people. They get credit where it's not deserved.
How much did Beyonce pay to get her name on the credits for her new album? I've never seen Rihanna or Beyonce play an instrument. Funny that. They are in the music industry yet can't play an instrument. That's like an Accountant not knowing how to use a calculator lol. But of course, we all know learning an instrument is harder than singing or dancing. I wouldn't put that high expectations on them to be put the effort in to learn. |

Beyonce is a better singer and dancer but I far prefer Rihanna's music (with the exception of her latest album, which I find boring). I have all Rihanna's other albums though, whereas I only have 2 Beyonce albums. A lot of Beyonce's music I find really boring. Rihanna has catchy, melodic songs for the best part. So ultimately I prefer Rihanna.

Firstly, the human voice is a musical instrument, perhaps the ultimate musical instrument? So both Beyoncé and Rihanna qualify as musicians. You don't have to like their voices but that's bye the way. Secondly, popular music, and music in general, is both a creative and an expressive art. Therefore, you don't have to be a writer to be an artist. Good examples of the latter being great performers like Frank Sinatra and Paul Robeson. Thirdly, the creation of popular music is often a collaborative effort even when it says all songs written and composed by....whoever. I like the personal vision thing nevertheless. |

I like them both and think there's room for the two of them. I enjoy both of their music and have done for a while. If I had to choose who I'd see live, it would definitely be beyonce. I think Rihanna needs to step up her game a bit, as to me she doesn't have much stage presence and looks like she's bored a lot of the time.

I'm voting Beyonce.
I love them both and have followed them since the start but sadly my love for Rihanna dipped after hearing Unapologetic and Anti. I find both of those albums really dull. Beyonce i have loved every album aside from I Am... B-Day is my personal favorite but having said that i find i love her new material a lot more when i like a artist i find i usually end up liking there older material more. However this is not the case with Beyonce. i love the self titled album and Lemonade a lot!

Like them both but find them not really comparable.
Prefer Rihanna though as she has the better hits I can hear on repeat and a broader genre in her music. Album wise I only really rate GGGB, Loud and Unapologetic (not yet bought Anti) Beyonce's output from the last 5 years I prefer much more than her early stuff, can't hear Crazy in love anymore (the office party favourite )So yes, my vote to Rihanna |

A couple of counter arguments.
Firstly, the human voice is a musical instrument, perhaps the ultimate musical instrument? So both Beyoncé and Rihanna qualify as musicians. You don't have to like their voices but that's bye the way. Secondly, popular music, and music in general, is both a creative and an expressive art. Thirdly, the creation of popular music is often a collaborative effort even when it says all songs written and composed by....whoever. I like the personal vision thing nevertheless. Personally I think playing an instrument requires more skill. How many people can play guitar like John Frusciante? Why should the expressor get all the credit then? And the best expressors are the ones who created it too. Yep collaborative with a few people, not 50 names on 1 song. Zara Larsson sounds like Rihanna. Jess Glynn sounds like Adele. How many people sound like my man Frusciante playing guitar? |
