It's been a hell of a long time since Cora left EastEnders and it was confirmed shortly after that she was returning! But when? Does anyone know? I love Ann Mitchell and Cora.

There's a rumour Cora dies off screen in a few weeks.

Spoiler

She's coming back when she's finished her stint on some play or other.

DTC said "later in the year". Most likely around the time when Jake Wood returns.

Batten down the hatches for Hurricaine Vaslav.

(I think it would be amazing if Vaslav was revealed to be Ann Mitchell!!)

I don't get the obsessional love some on here seem to have for her. She's played by a decent enough actress, but the character has had little development and serves no purpose. Her storylines and one liners could easily be given to other characters. Her relationship with her granddaughters changes with the wind, there's no substance to it. She's been gone for months, her absence has had no impact. They really would be mad to bring her back.

I much prefer Cora to Pam, Carmel and Babe. I even prefer her to that drip Kathy. I think it's because she is the superior actor. I'll be happy to see her back.

Anyone really notice that she has gone? Would the show be any worse if the wretched mess stayed away.

Totally agree about Babe. For some reason I like Pam as she is one of a very few warm characters on EE. Having her working on the stalls in Bridge Street and interacting with the regulars is the stuff of day to day. She doesn't need big storylines. Carmel is going to get with Masood which should sort out the character a bit.

I'm not denying that Anne's a good actress, I just think it's the character who is a mess. Really inconsistent writing has damaged her.

It's a shame what a farce her homeless plot became. Welfare of the elderly is such a topical subject, but they chucked out good drama in favour of the none sense surrounding them badgering that councillor.

Maybe the new EP could turn the character around, but I doubt it. I'd much rather they chucked Cora on the scrap heap and brought Aunt Marge in full time instead.

The thing with Kathy, Babe, Carmel and Pam (to a lesser extent) is that they do have purpose in the show. Kathy is there as a support for her family, Babe is the malicious shitstirrer. Carmel works well with Masood and Denise and Pam is the resident agony aunt who balances the likes of Pam out. Cora is an older version of Shirley. Her family cos quite well without her.

She's just a nosy old gossip. I never could stand her. If you confided in her it would be all round the square within the hour. I find Carmel's relationship with her son down right creepy, and do we need her or Masood (who I used to really like ). I do agree we need Kathy, but she needs Cora to give her a good talking to over the Booby/Max situation when she returns.

Every one knows I love Cora so I will say no more because i know she is a marmite character on here and I am not prepared to get into anymore arguments about her.

Ann is returning after she has finished appearing in a play in the West End.

You could say that about more than half the cast. Maybe at the time she comes back Max and the girls do need her. They've got to pick up the pieces of their lives.

I disagree, discarding an actress of her quality would be tragic for any soap imo

The way that Tanya treated her Mother last year was appalling, when Cora left the Square after Stan's Funeral it was presumed she had moved to Exeter - it was a few months later when Abi realised that her Nan was homeless.

So yes a short stint for Tanya would be good but I am more interested if Cora and Gavin have a history!

Totally agree she is made for the show.

Interestingly enough Sean O'Connor worked with Ann on A Deep Blue Sea and was the producer on that film.
