They've said this the last two nights.

Considering 8-10 million people watch, and 5 free votes a night, this figure is pretty poor, isn't it?

Yep, could be that just tens of thousands are voting. 80,000 voters is 1% of the viewers. And it's probably less than that!!

I remember Jade getting over 1 million votes to win Big Brother, and she finished 4th!

Shocking really, that they can give everyone 5 free votes and there still aren't as many cast as when they used to charge.

In big brother 2 Brian got 4.2 million votes and Helen 2.6 million and they were all paid for votes! Mad! Those were great times though.

People loved those early series of Big Brother.

Are people joking? We can't get people to vote in a General election let alone a tv talent show

That just really captured the mood of the nation didn't it- Incredible to think that the nation pretty much stopped at that moment and everybody was talking about it

That was in my mind before I clicked on the link.

The only pre-recording was an effort down on hands and knees to operate the £500 video player so millions watched it live.
It was fab-u-lous and my mum and I phoned each other during the ad breaks to discuss it.

I've gone from that to non-verbal communication with strangers.
Its all a bit sad.

That was before the public got wise to how much these shows are manipulated.

We don't choose these acts, producers do.

We had 2 impressionists this week - one was taken by producers and put in a complicated and irrelevent set, made to run around crazily, was left to write his own material and did difficult and novel impressions of quite well known but not easily thought of celebrities, especially to Cowell who has spent most of the last ten years in the USA.

We know this is not his act becausr it bore no relation to what he did at the audition which was much better. Then he stood centre stage and did a classic act. It as BGT producers that obliged him to do something that didn't work.

The other was given a giant screen projecting images of every character he did, most of which were bog standard US impressions - the muppets, mickey and Minnie mouse etc. He was given a song to sing so he had no material to write. He got 4 standing ovations from the judges and won his heat over the favourite. He was immensely helped by the producers' staging, the directing, the huge amount of work that went into the giant video screens and the judges' comments.

It's really clear with singers who is favoured and who us not. None of these contestants choose their own song or the arrangement or staging or what they are wearing. Yes, uf you got someone with a diva personality and huge drive they might insist on what they get to do but most of these people are amateurs and they rely totally on the advice of the show.

I think it's because the show isn't having enough really talented acts on. If a good percentage of the acts are just average, a lot of people might not feel passionate about voting. Quite a few of the acts I saw on the show I would describe as average, or quite a bit below average.
