Eastenders- What is wrong with Kathy?
Kathy seems to be trying to play down two members of her own family having their brains battered out as much as possible. She seemed genuinely surprised by the gravity of the situation at the hospital despite having walked in and seen Jane at the house and shes starting to bang on about protecting Bobby more than Jane herself.

I honestly don't get it, Bobby confessed to attacking Jane multiple times and they are all acting like it's an accident.

The while story line is ridiculous the script writers should be sacked

Not just Kathy though. He bashed Denny in and Sharon was trying to protect him, Martin wasn't happy about him being taken to the police station, Ben too even though he was nearly fingered for the crime. I think they are trying to normalize the Beales' actions by making everyone else morally bankrupt. Even Jack shrugged his shoulders!

Maybe Gavin had her lobotomized while they were in SA.

Agree with all of this. Jack and Abi seemingly dont give a toss about Max even though it has practically been confirmed to them he is innocent. Sharon was ranting and raving at him yesterday but now she wants to protect him

You could see Sharon soften towards him in the police interview room when they were alone. she looked and was being harsh then softened towards him

Nobody comes out of this storyline looking good to be fair.
Kathy wasn't the only one who wanted to carry on protecting Bobby. It bothers me most with her and Sharon though as they are so blasé about it. And that isn't them. At least Jane tried to give Max an alibi and Ian was almost driven to another breakdown around the time of the trial. |

The Game of Thrones theory is you lose a bit of yourself when you are resurrected from the dead.
Dead Kathy appears to verify this. |

Would you rather save your grandson or your daughter in law? Kathy's doing what most grandmothers would probably do. And she's only doing that because it's what Ian and Jane have been doing. Her actions and mindset in the situation are based on theirs because she's come in as a brand new player to the team so to her protecting Bobby is what she sees as the norm. If they wanted Bobby to hand himself over then she would be on board with that.
Also, if it was Kathy in Jane's position then god knows Jane would run to another country with Bobby without hesitation. She would rather protect her son than her mother in law. No one close to Bobby can function mentally because it's their "innocent" little boy that's in danger. |

She's certainly not the Kathy I remember.
They should've resurrected Michelle Collins instead. |

In fairness, Kathy has spent the last 15 years covering up a fake death. Covering up a real one is just the same game, different players!
Kathy has no right to decide what is best for her family. She has to re-earn that right. What is there to be gained by going up against Ian? She tried that with the market and he threw her absence back in her face like it was nothing. |

I think a lot of it now comes down the simple fact that many of the characters knew what happened prior to the attack on Jane and are worried about themselves getting in trouble should the truth come out; I think it's become less about Bobby and more about protecting themselves as they didn't go to the police when they initially found out and in some cases, such as the Mitchells, have made clear attempts to help cover up the truth.

I think Kathy just doesn't think that Bobby could seriously harm someone intentionally.
She did say to Ian and Jane about Bobby after he pushed her down the stairs saying her needed help though, so don't know why she would find it so shocking now. |
