To be fair to DTC and in response to the criticism he gets on here - the episodes we're currently watching are his work. It's his name on the credits.
We won't be seeing SOC's stories for a while. I think DTC always wanted this plot to run through his tenure and I suspect most loose ends will be dealt with as part of his final set of episodes - which will be over the next two months.
