But who knows how it's done that's the best part

I hope he goes through tonight. An excellent act and a nice guy. So much better than all those awful singers.

Hate it how people always say 'how did he do that?'

I don't want to know how he did it, because then it's not magic.

To be fair that's why I put spoiler in the tittle just in case anyone knows and posts here but people do not want to know.

Presume you never watch Jonathan Creek either then

I wouldn't worry mate, I don't think any members from the magic circle read DS.

And no...

Dunno remember the guy who finished runner up last year within a hour of his act finishing people were on here pointing out how he did that card trick.

Well he didn't freely flick through pages like he said he was doing. He stopped on the page, 176, he wanted to and asked Amanda if she happy. So a copy was in the bottle. May be had two p.176s in the book. A whole one and the partial one which matched the ripped page in the bottle. Plausible?! Can't explain the bottom thing though unless he tricked her into saying it.

I would imagine that as we only saw one page in the book it's possible that every page was number 176. He also told Alesha to remember the first word on the page as opposed to picking a random word, the word being bottom.

He's flicking through a book, I don't imagine it being very hard to react in such a way to her saying stop such that you end up on page 176
Also I was going to say I'm sure he said 'remember the first word', then asked her at the end what was her favourite word

So he is using similar techniques to fraudulent Psychics. Prompting and then bringing up stuff again. Yawn.

He ripped page 176 out of the book and put it inside the bottle earlier on. He writes the word BOTTOM on the underside of this page using soap or a similar substance. The paper is treated so it burns in a fixed way and leaves a black mark afterwards, but the soap prevents the section with the word bottom on from burning, therefore making it visible to see at the end.

He takes the corner of page 176 out of another copy of the book and slides it inside the first book. Whilst claiming to be flicking through the book he is actually locating page 176.

He opens the book to that page, but only shows us the corner of the page so you can't see that it isn't a full page and that the torn section from the original page is already there. He then palms the corner section before the reveal.

he clearly forced the page 176 and said 'read the first word' so it wasn't a free choice.

The first thing I thought of was Jonathan Creek and the charcoal, that part was fairly self explanatory but all the three tricks which preceded it were brilliant and he was the best act of the series so far.

Even knowing how he did the final part and reading the suggestions on the earlier tricks even if they are correct, it is a hell of a talent to perform it so flawlessly.

Worst trick ever.

He wasn't flicking through the book, he very obviously placed the card exactly where he needed it to be.

He asked Alesha to remember the first word of the page he had very obviously chosen himself (therefore he had very obviously chosen the word as well as the page).

I am completely baffled as to why anyone could be impressed by this.

I assume a version of "page 176" was attached onto the photo and he could have placed it anywhere in the book.

He had previously taken the actual page 176 out and stuck it in the bottle.

Alisha was told to read the first word when he opened it.

(Poundland must have been doing a 2 for 1 on Amanda's book.)
