It was a mix of both being on the weekend before their semi, plus being in the very 1st semi final

Then people being sentimental

but otherwise baffles me too, they're not even average!

The shouldn't have gone through. Neither of them is a great singer. The stupid mother and son spin has gone to people's heads.

the first semi was the weakest so they had little competition
they do it every year have a couple of semis with hardly any stand out acts
and have 1 or 2 semis where all the good ones are on the same day so many great acts dont make it
also why put the dalek guy through to just buzz - waste of a place
