I know the Play Offs finals aren't until this weekend, but as he Premier League one has popped up for next season I thought I would start up a Football League One.

I feel it is going to be a big season for the Football League and Sky, firstly we have the rebranding with it becoming the EFL.

The EFL will start on the 6th August, but I would expect them to have a game on the 5th August.

The Championship has Newcastle, Villa and Norwich joining them, I'm expecting overkill from Sky with those 3 teams but I hope not.

Half expecting Newcastle and Villa to at least be on every other weekend, especially if Sky only have the clause which is to show all teams at home at least once.

I hate the sound of EFL, it sounds stupid. If people overseas want to stick an E in front of our leagues to distinguish them from others then that's fine, but why are we doing it? What next, the EFA Cup?

It's just going to be Newcastle, Villa, Leeds, Derby and Forest on rotate

The E in front thing never made sense to me. Nobody says German Bundesliga or Spanish La Liga or French Ligue 1 or Dutch Eredivisie (as examples).

That is what I'm fearing, I guess we will at least get 2 of the above every weekend.

Opening weekend with no Premier Leagues Games, I expect Newcastle and Villa to be shown for Deffo, and another one, Newcastle on the Sunday maybe, to go up against the Community Shield, .

It's this need to turn everything into a 3 letter brand, and it's very American. They have the NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA etc. So, they call our league the EPL or BPL (depending on whether they need to use the sponsor), and we then have things like the UCL for the Champions League. As I say, overseas it kind of makes sense, but when people in England start calling the Premier League the EPL I cringe.

Sky Bet English Football League is a mouthful.

When Sky Bets contract is up, I wonder if the Football League will do the same as the Premier League and do away with sponsors.

I see your point but US rights-holders NBC refer to the league by its proper name - the Premier League or, as you say, BPL. Their overflow PL exclusive channels are called Premier League Extra Time.

As I said, I don't see Americans (or anyone else) use country names in front of other leagues

The Football League need a title sponsor far more than the Premier League does

A couple of others things to add. With Sky having Saturday lunchtime PL games, espect the Saturday FL game to be a 5.15/5.20/5.30 kickoff, which may cause a few issues (eg I wouldn't put money on Huddersfield v Leeds for example being picked in that timeslot on a Saturday night as that's been a lunchtime game since what seems like forever, same with Derby v Forest). Also with Sky having a max of 10 PL games on Friday nights, expect to see a few more Monday night FL games, or extra Thursday games. Generally though I think they'll be Friday night, Saturday teatime and the occasional Thursday night, Sunday afternoon (about 1pm) and Monday night.

I don't see Norwich being picked overly loads. They're nothing like as big a draw as Newcastle or Villa in terms of TV ratings etc (in my view at least, and they're not really an established PL team who are really big and who people are likely to be looking out for on the fixture list unless you're an Ipswich fan). If there's 2 games each weekend shown live (with the odd 3 game weekend), I fully expect to see at least one of Newcastle, Villa, Leeds, QPR, Sheff Weds if they don't go up and maybe Forest/Derby featuring in all live games. Certainly wouldn't put money on something like Rotherham v Bristol City being shown for example. Obviously last time Newcastle were at this level, most of their games were shown. With Leeds, QPR, Villa etc around, I don't see them being shown quite as often, but certainly something like Leeds v Newcastle I'd expect to be absolutely nailed on for a TV pick.

Would be nice if there was a maximum as well as a minimum, bt at least now teams are guaranteed at least 2 live home games, even if that's all they get.

Think we are guaranteed a Newcastle game on the first weekend, especially now Rafa is staying on as manager.

I can see it being Sunday 4pm, while BT have the Community Shield.

On the schedules, I expect we will get some Sunday lunchtimes, even if they do clash with PL like season just gone

It's like when motor racing drivers say for example that P4 was a good result. For christs's sake - say "4th was a good result"

If you're thinking about AFC Wimbledon v Franchise, it's not a given that both league fixtures will be televised live (and don't forget, there's a maximum of 20 League One and Two games combined during the regulation 46-game season. The likelihood is that the AFC home game will be shown (as long as its not in midweek).

I guess there is a greater chance of AFC Wimbledon v Franchise, being shown if it took place during an International Break.

Agree about only 1 game being picked. I don't think they'll show both. Once they've shown one, the story is covered (don't know if Sky can try to persuade the fixture people to try to get it played at AFC Wimbledon's place first, and during an international break, maybe not but I can definitely see them showing the first game between them).

They tend to go against showing both East Anglian Derby matches unless something is riding on the second. I assume Wimbledon v Milton Keynes will be the same.

It's also factually incorrect - I haven't looked at a map recently, but I'm pretty sure that Cardiff and Newport are both in Wales.

It's still an English league.

A very authentic looking leak of the Championship fixtures has surfaced online. Almost certainly bollocks of course but as I say, they've gone to a lot of trouble to make it look authentic.

Anyway , the opening day fixtures are:

Birmingham v Wednesday
Blackburn v Bristol C
Brentford v Forest
Derby v Cardiff
Huddersfield v Villa
Leeds v QPR
Norwich v Fulham
Preston v Brighton Crybabies
Reading v Barnsley
Rotherham v Burton
Wigan v Newcastle
Wolves v Ipswich

I'm going to stick my neck out and predict that both Newcastle v Leeds fixtures will be televised live.

Anyone know the date for the Capital One Cup first round draw at all? They normally do it before the fixtures are released.
