3rd game? What was this?
Last season i believe
This isn't allowed and wasn't the case. Only a maximum of 2 matches have ever been shown per match week from this competition. The FA Cup has, on rare occasions, had extra matches due to replay picks being carried from the previous season, but not the League Cup.

Does anyone know who decides the 3pm Saturday international broadcast championship game, that subsequently becomes Ch5 main game on their highlights game that evening ?

Is it Ch 5 ? The FL ? Just bemuses me how on earth they decide which game to show, for instance we had Cardiff v Reading on Saturday which was probably looking at the championship fixtures one of the least attractive games. It's not an isolated case too, even when BBC had rights there were some very strange picks. Is there a quota system which dictates each team must be shown at least once ?

Nothing to do with Ch 5

it is the International broadcasters who get to pick it

They are the ones who show whole match live at 3

They also pick within the fortnight before the game

So later in the season they can pick the leading teams

Thanks for the response. Puzzling why on earth the international broadcasters would want Cardiff v Reading when you have a chance of say Forest v Leeds or Bristol City v Villa.

Does seem strange. Does anyone know if they have a quota to fill, say each team must be shown at least once?

I was looking forward to the 'EFL Goals' show, put it on series link. But watching the first episode it seems despite the name it is actually the 'Championship Goals' show with several minutes of waffle to pad it out. No League 1 or 2 goals at all so that's the series link deleted.
I agree it's a stupid decision, Sky could at least do something similar to Channel 5's 'Goal Rush' programme.

I have no particular answer to this but presumably, regardless of any quotas, they'll want to get every team on at some point over the course of the season, and far better to get some teams unlikely to be challenging on in August than have to fit them in later on. Is there not a tiny bit of additional interest in Reading now Jaap Stam is in charge?

Can see the logic in that especially if there is a quota.

Be very interesting to see what the pick is on Sat 10th Sept when the seasons resumes after the international break.

Just checked on a website I use and it looks like they are showing Fulham v Birmingham which blows the theory of getting every different team in is as much as possible early on.
Birmingham were only on just over a week ago versus Wolves !!

Top of the table Huddersfield playing Leeds in a local derby and they decide to show Fulham v Blues ?!!

Must be picking games out of a flaming hat or something.........

Wolves and Villa (and WBA) have new Chinese owners. Birmingham's Chinese owners have been around for a few years

I think there is probably a fair bit of truth in that - it wouldn't surprise me if the Football League's international feed are using the early months of the season to show teams that are likely to be locked in mid-table after Christmas before concentrating on promotion and relegation matters as the campaign goes on. One thing I've noticed in recent years is that newly-promoted teams from League One typically tend to be the subject of the 3pm international feed games during the first few Saturdays of the season.

Mainly because the former is a 12.30pm kick-off.

As a Huddersfield fan (and it's good to be exactly that right now, no matter how long this lasts), I can confirm that as is the norm, the game at Elland Road kicks off at 3pm. It's when Huddersfield are at home that it's 12.30pm.

Only 1, which is Huddersfield v Wigan on Monday 28th November at 7.45pm, purely because both teams are out of the EFL Cup. December/early Jan games will come at the end of this month apparently, though I thought it was October so who knows.....

It also means that Huddersfield have now been picked twice at home, so have fulfilled the 2 home league games criteria, so theoretically may not be shown again this season by Sky (but if we stay up near the top/playoffs, we'll be picked more later in the season obviously, albeit not as much as Newcastle for example).

You confident for Saturday?
You beat Newcastle on their own patch so will be tough for us monk under Massive pressure to win this so going to be hard for us in think got good coach in Warner so things looking good in think I want a win obviously but settle for a draw
Can't defend so am expecting at least one from.a setpiece
We are good up front butv it's back is my worry
