I don't. Good luck getting any kind of audience opposite Liverpool vs Chelsea.
Well, pardon me all over the place. Though, again, good luck against Liverpool vs Chelsea. And I am pretty sure the first thoughts when selecting games for that slot were "What can go in that slot?" and "Where can we show all these Football League games we've bought", a long, long way before "What are BT showing?". But again...

BT have 2 games on Sat 21st January

And guess what

Sky have 2 FL games announced as well
What else are they supposed to put in that Saturday lunchtime slot? A blank screen?

Poster F - Well it happens like this in Ireland.

I must admit I laughed loudly at that...

Sky’s primary aim to ensure that their subscribers are happy with the level of content to continue subscribing. Hence where possible (most of the time) they will offer games that don’t clash to keep a continual schedule.

They will take account of other factors. For example I don’t think it is a coincidence that they have passed big matches (Arsenal V Spurs and Liverpool V Man City) on Bonfire Weekend and New Years Eve, as these are two dates where large numbers of subscribers will have other commitments. Id guess catch up of Strictly and X-Factor will be high on Sunday afternoon for example.

A secondary consideration (of many) will be BT and to have content up against BT which leads to people questioning their BT sub/ whether they need one. Hence I think the move earlier to play Villa V Newcastle on a Sat, not the Sunday could have been an example .

However I think the secondary consideration is sometime looked into far too deeply. For example the availability of a CL game (often featuring two non-British teams) in SD/HD is one such example, it simply wont cross anyone’s minds at BT or Sky Id have thought.

A common occurrence on this forum (ie not just this thread, but many threads) is that people attribute something to one particular cause when very often there are numerous contributory factors, so:

Poster 1: "A is happening because of B"

Poster 2: "No, A is happening because of C"

Poster 3: "No, A would have happened anyway, regardless of B and C"

Very often there will be an element of truth in all of the above - ie A may well have happened anyway but B and C are both things that may be convenient for A, or help A be more successful.

The above series of posts is a good example.

With most things in life, things don't just happen for one single reason. Very often there are many contributory factors. But people often seem to want to simplify things down to one single cause.

This then leads to a debate which doesn't achieve much as people contradict each other when there is a partial element of truth in what both people are saying.
But we know in this case, it is simply because Sky want to avoid clashing their Football League matches, with their own Premier League matches. It does mean they yes, Sky's Football League matches, clash with BT's Premier League matches, but that can not be avoided.

Imagine if Sky had all the Premier League matches they had, and BT didn't have any (i.e. lets just pretend that BT's packages just don't exist.) Sky's scheduling of matches would be no different to what it is now.

Yes, they've sponsored Reading for a few seasons and Chelsea's training tops. Seen a few ads on the tube as well. Haven't tried it though, seems like a pound shop Red Bull

One difference with Leeds this year though is, Under Gary Monk at least they are challenging, It isn't like we will get to like February, and there season over,

Though admittedly after they lost against us (Huddersfield) there was talk of getting rid of him. Sometimes you just need to give a new manager time, and for them it's paying off, as 2 months ago they were (I think) in the relegation zone, or very close to it, yet are now fighting for the playoffs. If they stay up near the playoffs they'll no doubt be picked even more, but we'll see. Think I remember someone saying that 1/3 of the way through the season there's only 6 points between 6th and 17th, so anything could happen to anyone yet.

I still don't think it'll be picked for TV, although when they make their choices in another few weeks, if both of us are in and around the top 6 they may choose to pick it despite us being live on the Thursday as well (not that that stopped them picking 2 Norwich home games in a few days in December)

I guess it will depend on the PL matches.
The game can't be on Fri night or Saturday
So if there is no EFL slot free on the Sunday it won't get picked

Forest's next three games are live on Sky, having also been on at the weekend - making for four games in a row. Odd is it not?

Glad for L2 Fans, that they finally have a game on Sky, kinda guessed that would happen on FA Cup 3rd round weekend.

On Forest, watching them on Saturday, Wonder how high they could be in the table if Britt Asombalonga stayed fit

Unfortunately for Forest, they won't get to play my lot every week. Still haven't got over how shocking a performance that was...

Clearly, the point being made is that League 2 is getting a look-in at last with a first live game of the season - so let's not be silly about it.

If either team is still involved in the FA Cup on Monday 9th January, the match will revert to Sunday 5th February at 12.30pm - its original date and kick-off time, and will not be shown live.
