If they were going to pick a game at 2.15pm they would've done, same for the Saturday evening. It was clearly announced that the opening weekend games would be announced when the fixtures came out. That'll be your lot for the opening weekend. I'd be stunned if another game is picked now for that reason alone.
Don't expect AFC Wimbledon v MK Dons to be on TV with it being a Tuesday (plus once one game is shown, they don't really need to show the other, we know the story). Wouldn't be surprised to see Newcastle v Huddersfield on TV as it's their first home game of the season, probably the same for Villa and their first home game v Rotherham, but that's just my own personal guess, I could well be wrong and likely will be wrong. Boxing Day I'm pretty certain even now that Newcastle v Sheff Weds will be picked. New years eve I fully expect Villa v Leeds to be picked. No guarantee we'll see both of every major local derby shown, (don't forget a lot of them have police wanting a lunchtime kickoff generally, eg Forest v Derby, and Sky have a Saturday evening slot now for EFL, not Saturday lunchtime (they won't want to clash with their own PL games). |

On the Second weekend, you have Newcastle Aston Villa, and Norwich all playing there first home fixtures.
Newcastle v Huddersfield Aston Villa v Rotherham Around there PL fixtures, is there anyway, they could fit in Norwich v Ipswich, just remember that, is Week 3 |

What on earth is the significance of Newcastle and Villa's first home fixtures?

I think the Community Shield is a 3pm kick off. Brighton v Forest looks a decent pick for 13 August.

Could Sky showing no fixtures live on the 6 August, be anything to do with Sky getting the lunchtime PL pick.
Having a 12.30 FL game on the Saturday, would probably get there Viewers thinking they would be showing FL Games on a Saturday Lunchtime as before. I know it sounds bonkers but hey |

Thanks, that makes more sense.
You are of course right regarding the police (I can't imagine the Villa v Blues games being anything other than a Sunday lunchtime) but nevertheless I just think that every effort should be made to show local derbies as often as possible, particularly during the first half of the season, when the league table is almost not relevant. |

Sky did use the Sunday slot for FL Games, at the same time as Super Sunday last season, I wouldn't rule out them doing the same with the Blues Derby.
Could it also be a Sunday when Sky maybe only show a single super sunday |

Not that I'm aware of (last time we played them was in the EFL cup a few years ago, as well as in a home pre season friendly). Are you referring to my comment about Police not wanting a Saturday evening game? If so, apologies, my fault for not clarifying that I was referring to the Norwich v Ipswich game mentioned with regards week 3.

Well, you know, it doesn't have a sponsor, so.........yeah. Plus I can't remember what it was called when we played them.
Call it the League Cup. I don't know anybody who doesn't call it that. |

Did anybody have trouble viewing Section 1 of the draw, Luton v Aston Villa, is a pick I would if I was Sky, Villa going from the Premier League, to playing a 1st round game, at a ground with Chalets

In my eyes, they are possibly the two biggest clubs in the Championship for years, they both used to get shown often in the Premier League season, and I wouldn't be surprised if one or the other is shown every weekend.

The police would probably like that to be a lunchtime game, so I think the best they could probably manage IF the police insisted on a lunchtime game is maybe midday on the Sunday (would have a slight clash with their 1.30pm PL game).

I would suspect that Sky will just show Newcastle, Villa and Leeds games on rotation each week with a few derbies thrown in for good measure. Until Christmas at least when the individual ties start having more relevance.
