Who are Bolton playing the Weekend of September 3, as I know a few times Sky have liked to show a relegated Championship side then, morealess to like rub it in
We're at home to Southend. Given Phil Brown was heavily linked with our managers job also adds a little bit to the 'narrative' (although things like that aren't always a huge factor in TV picks)

Sky have a few times if I remember rightly, shown one of the clubs relegated from the Championship, in the first international break, so Bolton came to mind

Given I work down the road from Loftus Road and can see the Wembley arch from my house, this seems a rather odd comment. The two stadia are seven miles apart, on totally different tube lines, and Leeds and Manchester United supporters coming by train will arrive in London via different stations. If any Leeds and Manchester United fans meet up in the hope of causing trouble, they will have had to have gone very much out of their way to do so, not much Sky or the clubs can do about that. The twelve o'clock kick-off will further cut down on any drinking time.

London is a big city and can cope with numerous sets of supporters, even Leeds fans given about 0.00001% of their fanbase is stupid enough to start picking fights. It's not 1975 anymore.

Fixtures for live TV confirmed for week 1:

Fulham v Newcastle (Friday night)
QPR v Leeds (Sunday 12:00)
Sheffield Wednesday v Aston Villa (Sunday 16:30)
1st Leeds moan of the season for me.
That's a pointless fixture especially as we know sky will show them about 15 times.
Forest vs Burton for the Clough factor would be a better pick.

Very good. But reading threads like these, you wonder how any football matches get played without the police vetoing them all. They're consulted before the matches and the TV times are announced.

sorry for an off topic tweet, but what the nearest station for the QPR ground, always annoys me that QPR isn't in Brent.
by the way Queen park station is in the Bakerloo line that covers Wembley Central or Stonebridge park.

EDIT lol that explains everything QPR isn't even in Queens park, near shepherds bush.

Yes, Queens Park Station has nothing to do with QPR. You'd get the Central Line to Shepherd's Bush or White City.

Slightly off Topic but I have a EFL Cup query

Bristol Rovers have been drawn to play Cardiff at home, normally when a Bristol Club play Cardfi, for police reasons it is normally a Saturday 12.30 pm kick off, will they be okay with a evening game

Yes.

I can't think of any fixture that can't be played on a Monday-Thursday evening (Bank Holidays excepted).

The reason weekend fixtures are moved to lunchtime is to cut down on drinking time. That's not an issue midweek when people have been at work. Friday evenings are restricted because police resources are needed elsewhere.

As a West London resident I would like to say the publuc transport is relatively crap by London standards and getting from Loftus Road to Wembley isn't THAT easy

BIB - Where have you got that from, everything I've seen points to that game being a 4pm ko - even the Wembley website says 4pm

On the subject of the League Cup (sorry I'm not ready to use that acronym yet) Is Luton v Aston Villa considered the most likely TV game? How many games do sky show from the first round?

Two games.

That is the one that jumped out to me, Leyton Orient v Fulham looks a good shout too

Luton v Villa is very likely I'd say. I doubt they'll go for Orient v Fulham, even with the London derby aspect and it being the lower league team at home. My gut feeling is they'll go for Cambridge v Sheff Weds or Fleetwood v Leeds but this is purely because Sheff Weds and Leeds will almost certainly get higher viewing figures due to them being bigger clubs etc than Fulham (however, Villa, Sheff Weds and Leeds all play on Sunday, so if Sky are showing a game on Tues and Weds, one of those teams will have to play Sunday/Tuesday if 2 of those 3 games are picked. Not sure if they might go for Wednesday/Thursday instead or not though (I think they did last season didn't they?)

Over the years they have even made Clubs play Saturday and Monday.

UEFA will have a problem as usual with our TV games

The UEFA Super Cup Final is on that week

Sky will have to probably show Wednesday and Thursday games or Monday/Wednesday as suggested above

True, and of course that's no different to playing over Easter or Christmas, depending on the ways the days fall obviously.

I'd tell UEFA to go sod themselves (in so many polite words) as in reality, nobody really gives a flying snot about that game. Yeah ok Real Madrid are in it but........so what? If it was Liverpool v Real Madrid for example then maybe, but Sevilla v Real Madrid? Truthfully, nah.

Looks like the reason for no live FL game in the Sat 5.30pm slot on the opening weekend is that Sky has Liverpool v Barcelona (International Champions Cup) game at Wembley (kick-off 5pm).

FA themselves say 4 but could always change I guess!

BTW Surely UEFA aren't going to be that fussed about a League Cup or Football League game clashing with an all Spanish European tie!?

Several clubs appear to be confirming date and kick off times for their 1st round games on Tuesday

So Sky must have picked but not announced

Last year Sky showed matches on Wednesday and Thursday. But I think it's got more to do with Sky not wanting to go up against football on another channel.
