Lynsey Hipgrave joins renamed Football on 5 for their new-look 'EFL' highlights show. George Riley remains, Kelly Cates steps aside (pure speculation on my part, but could she potentially be moving to the Saturday edition of 606?) I should add, I think Lynsey is an excellent choice.

She presents a lot of football coverage on BT Sport, some Europa League, Champions League and FA Cup. She's not too bad actually.

Maybe BT have realised that "Fletch and Sav" is hideous and have come to their senses.

I'll defend Sky on their use of the word soccer. It is to association football what rugger is to rugby football. And given that Sky show soccer, rugger and the NFL, I think it is more than acceptable to use the word soccer to avoid confusion.

Also in the case of Soccer Saturday and Soccer Special Sky are clearly using alliteration.

If sky have to use the prefix soccer to avoid confusion then why is one of their programs called Monday night football?

But I think this is being overthought. Soccer Saturday rolls of the tongue like Football First (as-was), as opposed to "Football Saturday" or "Soccer First". It's just a case of selecting the right words to create a catchy name that sticks in people's minds. In the case of Soccer AM...well, it is kind of America-esque in its presentation... The one programme that does have an odd title, however, is "Soccer Extra", the post-bank holiday version of Goals on Sunday. It's such a massive departure from the name of its parent show; something like "Goals on <day>" would make much more sense. |

The branding will almost certainly be "Friday Night Football", which is almost alliterative.
