No because the athletics evening session starts at Midnight

Anyway that is week 2
Week 1 is only first day of Olympics

Can anyone confirm if Sky are showing a weekly EFL highlights programme, can't see anything listed for next Sunday/Monday?

Can't see anything either, would be odd if they didn't. Maybe they are relying on Goals on Sunday this week

'Goals on Sunday' doesn't usually show L1/L2 though, unless that make an exception just for Round 1 like you say.

I guess they will wait for the PL to start before doing anything regular

They have a 430 Championship game on the Sunday

So that will mess with a regular highlight show

From the weekend of 13/14 Aug - ie first weekend of the PL - there is an "EFL Goals Show" - 30 mins - Sat at 8pm on SS1 - repeated several times on Sun.

So it will be on immediately after the 5.30pm live EFL game.

NB. PL Game of the Day moves back to 8.30pm.

Yes, fair point actually.

Thanks for the info Mlt11, not sure I like the 8pm slot as it means we won't get any highlights of any non live Sunday games, would prefer a one hour show on Sunday or Monday night.

The 8pm slot also probably answers why there isn't any 'Today's Goals Now' programme listed for Saturday 8pm on SSN HQ.

I think they were forced to move GOTD back to 8.30pm and Match Choice back to 10.30pm as the rights tender was amended from the previous contract to reflect those times. Presumably the PL's thinking was that Match Choice shouldn't start before BBC MOTD.

The above then created a 30 mins space at 8pm and it seems logical to put an EFL goals show there - running immediately after their live 5.30pm EFL game.

One other aspect is that this isn't very helpful for C5 which has its FL highlights show at 9pm. I know Sky have had the FL goals on SSN for many years but showing them in a self contained 30 mins show may pull in a few extra viewers and thus make it less likely that people will watch the C5 programme.

So Sky are doing this to kill off viewers on a rival ??

Yawn yawn

No - they are doing it as it makes most sense for them.

Any impact on C5 is of almost no consequence to Sky.

In any case, C5's FL show is already rating poorly so any difference is not going to be significant.

Why doesnt Goals on Sunday show league one and league two highlights? Sky sports website has them and sky has the rights to the leagues? I know C5 have a highlights show but we dont get C5 in ireland

Sorry to be a pedant but you don't get Channel 5.

It is, however, available all over Ireland via satellite on a free to air basis, including on a Skybox.

And is also available terrestrially in much of the country.

Given Jeff Stelling was being so dismissive of BT starting their scores programme until next week, you'd think Sky might have started that this week. Never mind.

So even you can get it, despite saying nobody in Ireland gets it

It's really only a Skybox that prevents you doing what you want

Virtually any other satellite box would give you what you want; of course to record it you'd need a box that has an internal drive or is capable of recording to an external drive.

A Freesat box would mean you could do it via plug and play.

Or, if you live close to the border, or at many points along the east coast, you'd receive it via a terrestrial aerial. That's also possible in other parts of the country but reception can be hit and miss from what I'm told by relatives.

There is also a fiddley way you can record it if you have an older Skybox with a scart connection!

I know its FTA so you can manually tune it in!! But thats not very practical to alot of people with busy lives whos only option is to watch a program 'live'. I dont live near the border and i dont think its worth the money to purchase another box just to record channel 5.

Anyway back to my original question.. Why cant goals on sunday show football league one and two goals when sky have a EFL program on saturday nights and show the goals on Sky sports news and on their website?

I just queried the fact that you definitively stated that nobody in Ireland gets it (you then admit that even you do); you then asked about how to receive and record it

BTW Why did you ask how it was possible to receive and record it if you aren't willing to pay to do it? Did you think I was going to list a whole load of free options?!!

PS A very cheap satellite box would do the job anyway.

To answer your other question, if Sky don't show them maybe they think that the very few numbers interested in the lower leagues will have already gone out of their way to see the goals at other available opportunities. They presumably want to dedicate their flagship highlights show to the top leagues.
