RGB vs S-Vid
Currenty I use a Scart Cable from my Xbox to my Sky+ to my TV. All scart Connections are RGB. I have an optical cable running from sky+ to my amp. Later today im going to buy another optical cable to connect my xbox to my amp. This will allow me to have svid connection on my xbox if I need it.
Other than being able to use pic in pic on the TV, will I see any benefits to using S-Vid for one of the connections (Xbox or Sky+ I don't mind) and keeping RGB for the other. I did post this elsewhere, but i thought this forum was the most relevant |

I'd be interested to know the answer to this too.
I would assume RGB is always best, but stand to be corrected. |

Ranking of Quality, first being best.
HDMI DVI Component RGB S-Video Composite (PAL) So RGB is you're best option. The three at the top are primarily for Plasma TV's only so i'd stick with RGB. |

How can I make my NTL STB Component out compatible? Or even RGB, its only scart out since the upgrade.

The order of Component and RGB is arguable.

Settings> Visual Settings> Set TV picture Signal to RGB. Also bear in mind that the VCR scart on the NTL set top box is composite only, so make sure you use the correct output. Quote:

The Sky+ VCR scart supports RGB in aswell as Composite out (but NOT composite in) - this is how you can loop through a DVD player or similar (XBOX?) to the TV and see either device in RGB. You need to set up your Xbox to be RGB out as described but leave your set up as RGB to TV AV1 - there is no requirement to introduce Svideo into the equation as long as you are happy to have both devices loop to the TV AV1 socket. RGB will give you the crispest picture in the simplest way. If you are not happy with both devices looping into AV1 then post back here and we can adjust. Rgds, Scorp |

Goodness, did i really say that!?!
Oops, of course the VCR scart supports composite in and out aswell as RGB in. I was trying to emphasise the fact that you can use RGB in on this scart which is what a lot of people forget. Sorry for confusing all us sleepy heads out there! Rgds, Scorp |
