As for people taking offence by proxy, potential racism is the concern of us all, people turning a blind eye because "that offensive remark was not directed at me" is exactly how Nazi Germany started..

Why can't she mention their colour? Four black men singing a genre that is almost exclusively white males.

Tonight we heard Alisha refer to a group of male singers as 'chocolate men' something which should surely be considered totally unacceptable in this day and age, it was like something you'd expect from Bernard Manning in the 1970s.
If that wasn't bad enough, we then had to endure Amanda Holden repeatedly referring to some dancers of Oriental origin as 'subhuman'. None of these terms are acceptable in this day and age, and certainly not on a family television show. What's Ofcoms number? If anyone can say it Alesha can! Nevertheless, children watch the show and there would be no end of trouble if a small child used the expression in the playground so, Alesha, be warned! But let's not make more of a deal of it than it was. |

Because it's patronising and the equivalent of saying "yes you were quite good, for a girl"
If she wanted to say she was pleased to see black guys singing Opera, that's what she should have said, not started up with this "chocolate men" nonsense. |

Are you all for real?
"Chocolate men" was clearly meant as a compliment, and as a black woman, Alesha clearly did not mean it offensively. It was clearly meant in a complimentary context. Give me strength... As for "subhuman"... That would not even register with me as being offensive?! She was just referring to how their act of contortion was not how you would normally see a human act. HOW IS THAT OFFENSIVE? You all need to get some fresh air and stop reading the daily mail. |

I actually like the term chocolate men. If I was black I'd be proud to be called that because chocolate is loved by so many people.

Freedom of speech, as long as it doesn't offend the party in question. Honestly some people have got nothing better to do....

Do you even know what subhuman means ?
Though in all fairness I dont think Amanda meant it as its meaning subhuman adjective UK /ˌsʌbˈhjuː.mən/ US /ˌsʌbˈhjuː.mən/ disapproving › having or showing behaviour or characteristics that are much worse than those expected of ordinary people: Their treatment of prisoners is subhuman. As for chocolate men well then what if Amanda had said " what a lovely group of white men " to a group ? It may not be racist but its blooy rude . |

It's only a TV show. BiB says it all. But spare a little sympathy for the PC brigade who clearly have very sad little lives and assume, in their little bubble, that their views actually reflect those of ordinary people. |
