The judges seemed unimpressed with Jules and Matisse.

I don't think she has a good stage presence or any charisma and I'm not convinced that all the training is done with kindness, the dogs didn't look too happy.
Oh my god, I remember you from last year with your fantasies of cruelty. The dogs are clearly well looked-after and happy.

I really did not see the problem last year. Both dogs performed in the semi final it not like she tried to hide the other dogs The fact is she trained the dogs to do all the tricks and deserved to win compared to guy stuffing a ring in lemon.

But you are wrong. She was the one who didn't make it clear she was using two dogs because she hid the second dog after the act was over.
Hmm yes, good point. Personally, I've never been impressed with the dog acts - it's a case of "seen it once, seen it all", it just doesn't impress me but each to their own.

I think the issue with the multiple dog situation is that the act was called Jules and Matiesse, before the controversy forced her to add the "and Friends" part. I don't actually think Jules is to blame - if she was that concerned about it, she wouldn't have blurted out that she had other dogs on Lorraine the next day. The problem was the show billing her as having just the one dog, and I'm guessing they didn't allow for her to bring the second dog on stage afterwards. Personally, I think she'd have won even more successfully if the other dogs were brought out after her final performance last year but hey ho.
This. And if she had "hidden" the dog, she wouldn't have mentioned it in the interviews afterwards. It wasn't as if she tried to keep it a secret or anything. To say she "hid" it suggests that she didn't want people to know about it.

I often wonder if the Simon Cowel Production Team love to create controversy and then fan the flames. Simon loves to display disaproval when it suits him, but he just wants attention for himself and his shows.

Mind you, I didn't understand the storyline of Jules' act last night - anyone else figure it out?

Apart from the act being crap, maybe it had something to do with the dog trainer hoodwinking all the judges last year by using two dogs instead of one? I know that Simon mentioned about the two dogs on an earlier show and he didn't look too happy about being fooled by it.
A little over the top there. Do you really think she just sneaked an extra dog into the studio without anyone noticing? The show didn't bother to make things clear, anyone who thinks Jules was making a conscious effort to trick people is deluded.

Simon's always defended her.

I'm not a dog fan, and they would not have been my choice of winner last year - but clearly there is talent there!

As the reigning champs, obviously they were back and I watched...

It was so dull! Lots of Jules wandering around and unconvincingly checking a machine while very little happened... And they could not have hammered home any more than there were several dogs - name change, the routine itself, and Simon clarifying it wasn't Matisse in the VT.

After their routines last year, I thought this was a very poor follow up. I seem to remember Ashleigh and Pudsey coming back and doing a good act, as good as they'd been the year before - but this was slow and dull. Got to say I noticed the judges didn't go wild either.

Please no more dog acts, I cheered when we avoided one tonight - but I think I know which way the wild card vote will go

Hopefully it wasn't anything to do with her having a different dog to Matisse in last year's final. Because if it is, then that's not fair as that wasn't her fault. She said so herself in her first interviews the next day, so it wasn't as if she tried to hide it. If it's anyone's fault, it's ITV's for not making it clear that she used another dog. And also, the fact of the matter is, whether it was Matisse or not, she still managed to train a dog to walk a tightrope, which is extremely impressive.
some people may still hold grudges though

Can you blame them? It was awful. No point standing up if they think the act is rubbish.

What she did last year was really controversial, so that probably had something to do with it too.

Strange that she didn't mind getting the dogs on stage together for THAT performance!

I also didn't understand the act. Some kind of dog cloning machine? Several dogs that just sat in boxes, and one that knocked over a bucket of glitter and then did some dog dancing? I was very confused by it or what the storyline was meant to be.

It also seemed very loud to me, I felt sorry for the dogs, it would be even louder for them to deal with.

This is what the issue was, nothing to do with last years controversy. If they were that bothered they would have just written her out of the history of the show. It would be far from the first time that happened.

The routine was just poor and didn't really go anywhere. It was all a bit 'wtf' by the end and I don't even think the judges realised it has finished.

yes I think you are correct I think they might have been confused if the act was totally finished I think David can be heard asking 'is she coming back on?' after Jules had left the stage so they may not have been sure of the correct time to applaud.
