T-Mobile.....I'm straying over to the darkside!

I can't believe what I have done!

After all these years of bitching, moaning and complaining about T-Mobile (whilst praising and big-upping Vodafone) I've joined T-Mobile Pay Monthly.

Well, at least hear me out first! I've not long turned 18 (4months ago exactly) and Vodafone wouldn't let me have a contract because of this. Therefore, I decided to get a Next catalgoue (which I have been accepted for, and am paying off fully) but have still been rejected by Vodafone because "poor credit history".

So, playing the off chance, I tried t-mobile,co.uk - Found an excellent deal:

750 free SMS + 100 free mins (18month) - £23.40 a month

Bargain! I keep my phones for a long time, so 18 months is fine. Got a phone call from T-Mobile themselves 5mins ago, and they've approved me for credit and the phone is coming tomorrow (a Nokia 6230).

I'm dead pleased, though anxious to be straying over to the darkside of T-Mobile land - with poor signal and bad customer service?!!

Anybody want to try and reassure me T-Mobile aint that bad?!

I think you were just lucky with Vodafone tbh. I personally found that the service was really poor and my phone never worked in the supermarket, pub etc. Even if the signal was at 5 bars, the speech quality was Norman Collier - do a google search

Meanwhile, everybody has a go at 3 and yes, the customer service is poor, mainly due to the advisors being 'slaves to the scripts', but for me, the call quality and reception is astounding.

Good luck with T-Mobile. I'm sure you'll be OK.

T-Mobile are great, ive been with them since they switched from One2One.

Signal can be a bit dodgey in the countryside and along motorways in some parts etc, but what do you expect. Mine is great and the call quality is brilliant!

following the trouble I had with a Newsagent and my daughters PAYG phone E-Topups T-Mobile took the trouble of phoning to see if we had solved the problem.

Well Done T-Mobile Customers Services 10/10

Though i have 6 phones on T mobile, i wouldn't have got a 18month contract with them @ £23, would have paid the extra £2 a month for a 12 month contract

Anyway did you get it on Mix it?

Check this 12 month contract

http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/Dispatcher...one=nokia_6230

Or this one but 18 months, web exclusive with extra minutes ans texts for 3 months

I needed a constant supply of free SMS due to me moving away from my home town soon and being in contact with friends + family - plus a handset which is sturdy enough to last me 18months as I do not want to keep changing phones.

You going to uni, wat one?

if your happy with your ordered phone and price plan i tink it would be ok.

Ive been trying to survive my first year of uni, only calling people after 6pm, but it is impossible. Your plan is a good T-mobile one as your mainly a texter

Maybe people on other networks may think differently

or pick my the may edition of the carphone warehouse magazine, that will have everything you need to know, apart from exclusive web network promotions. Only available on their websites

***Nokia 6230 is a very good phone**

Uni - I've put Lincoln down and Birmingham as my insurance.

I had my eyes on the D500 but they wanted to make me pay for it, and after all - I'm a student!

I'm really sorry to leave Vodafone though :'( They've been great to me, and I'm dreading having to make the PAC code call in the morning

To be honest, I'm really pleased with the service so far on T-Mobile.

Signal is excellent - I'm getting full bars where I used to get a weak signal on Vodafone. Also, customer service are excellent and "my T-mobile" on the internet site is absolutely excellent.

I'm a happy bunny

Someone on your road must of had a poor credit rating. Messing things up for you.

I was able to get out two T-mobile contracts at 18

Rubbish. It's a myth about blacklisted houses or 'someone' on the street. Companies use two recognised agencies called Experian or Equifax who store credit data about an individual. A company is only allowed to search for information regarding a specific applicant at a specific address and that is the only information they can use when scoring for credit. The only time you can be linked is in joint credit agreements with a partner or spouse.

Companies have many criteria when scoring credit, and they do not have to tell you why you have been declined.

There are common reasons though.

1) Individual Not registered on the electoral roll - fair enough since this is a legal requirement.
2) The company is not putting your address details or name correctly into the search so they don't find you. This has to be spot on when compared to the credit agencies' address database. I had no end of problems when my address contained Flat x as the first line as phone monkeys seem to have difficulties with this concept. You can always order online via a form to bypass this problem

I'm on T-Mobile and the customer service is top notch (not that i've had much need to call it unlike the joke that was Orange) and even when i was getting no bars registering on the meter the call quality was still top notch, only been in a couple of signal blackspots, but moving to the window fixed that and a network scan only showed o2 which was breaking up too much to be useful (the person i was with was on o2).

I'm paying too much for what i use it for though and am considering switching to U-Fix but the GPRS rates are extortionate (£7.50 MB ffs!). My 12 month contract expirers this month.

And details on your credit history that are incorrect, or they still have previous occupiers details on, you just request to be removed or corrected.

You just need to pay £2 for the report.

You need to get e report from both the main two agencies, Experian or Equifax, as different companies use either one, and many use both.

There are a couple of smaller agencies, but are little used.

You should also notice the improved sound quality, as long as you call landlines, and mobiles not on Vodafone and O2.

People should really go to orange, it has become by far the best around recently, with 3 pence txt messages 1000 free txts each weekend buy 1 get 1 free in the odeon on a wensday cheap calls aswell, and noe that thing where you top up 10 quid and get an extra fiver, ALSO if you want a contract and you are a student as i am you can get 1000 txts (a month) and 200 minuites (a month) with your phone being free its really quite brilliant, and if you know someone on orange already you get 50 quid and they get 25!
