I am hoping that was an unfortunate typing error and you mean infected.

It could just be a typo. My iPad loves changing words to make me look thick.
Would I sleep with someone who's infected with HIV? Depends on our relationship and whether they had the right condoms/spermicide etc. |

You mean infected presumable and I'd be honest and say no, its would be too much of a risk for me and a what if, even if you practice safe sex, might sound a bit presumptive at this point if someone was honest with me and before hand I just don't think I could, but I'm sure there are people who might do, it depends on the person and how involve you are with them.

Personally I wouldn't. I'd be constantly worrying, yes precautions can be made but these can go wrong. Just too risky for me.

![]() In answer to your question, I'm really not sure. I think a lot depends on how much you love someone and want to be with them sexually. I know plenty of people do it, but there'd always be an element of worry, wouldn't there? It's a very tricky subject. |

I would but obviously use precautions.
Current studies have shown that if a guy has HIV and taking his medication to the point where the virus is undetectable, he could have unprotected sex and statistically not pass on the virus. Partners can also go on PREP which is when they also take medication which stops HIV transmission. So a combo on PREP for the non HIV partner and an undetectable load with the HIV+ guy then the chances are pretty much zero. |

I'm assuming that it is a typo / auto correct and the OP meant infected.
It would depend on the relationship I think - given that it is purely hypothetical as i've been with my Husband for 14 years so the thought of being with anybody new is quite daunting. I'm of the age where we had 'safe sex' drummed in to us (I was 15 when 'Don't Die of Ignorance' was on) so was always very aware of the risks, was very careful but also not irrationally scared due to knowing what had to happen for infection to occur. So, when i was single, I didn't overly worry whether somebody might have it (many did and we're undiagnosed in the 80s/90s) if i wanted to be with them - just made sure condoms were used. If i'd have felt differently if i'd known for sure, it is hard to say. I think if i didn't see any proper relationship developing, just a shag, it might put me off a bit as even though it is rare, condoms can break. But, there is also help that can be got if you react quickly should that happen. It's not as bad as it was 2d/30 years ago. If I really liked somebody, it was going to be a proper, hopefully long term relationship and we took precautions, I probably would yes. |

![]() In answer to the question, I would normally jump in and say no but if you develop feelings for somebody and end up falling in love with them who knows? Love does funny things to a person so I think unless you're in that situation it's difficult to tell what you would do |

I really don't know to be honest. It would depend on how serious I was about the person

Personally, the only way I'd consider sleeping with someone who is positive was if I were in a relationship with them and I had consulted a doctor about it beforehand. There seems to be a lot of misconceptions about Prep out there and from what I've read they still recommended you wear condoms to prevent HIV even if you're on it so how effective can it really be? Also I've noticed since Prep has become more popular there are a lot of gay guys who think its means they can have unprotected sex, which is not true because you are still putting yourself at risk for a bunch of other STDs and STIs.

In a show (HOs) where the gay characters are constantly swapping partners, you would think that one of them would have taken at least a second out to think if they are comfortable with it and making sure that they are completely safe. Not only because everyone is different and while one may be okay with it, another might not be, but it also tells a story about living with HIV, which they are failing to do with Ste.
I think I am remembering it right, but correct me if I am wrong. A day after Sinead had a HIV scare with Ste, Ste slept with Harry! |
