The FA Cup 2016-17
I know it's only been a few days since last season's FA Cup finished but we have massive news for the 2016/17, no quarter final replays:
http://www.thefa.com/news/the-fa-cup...-death-replays Again the rights are the same with the BBC have primary rights (15 games, 2 on BBC Two) and BT having secondary rights, (25 games) this year BT will continue to show games in 4K on their UHD channel. With the removal of the Quater Final replay's, the picks will be more important this year. |

It is getting like 20/20 cricket. Get it all over in one go and minimise the attention requirements of the supporters.
How I miss all those fourth round second replays on wet Wednesday afternoons!

The details on this seem a little vague. Have the FA said if QFs are going to be at neutral venues now?

Nothing vague about it. There won't be replays at the quarter final stage. If they were to be played at neutral venues (which would be stupid at that stage) they'd have said so, so of course they won't be played at neutral venues.

Don't think it would be that difficult to find 4 venues around the country for QFs if that's what they wanted to do and it would remove the luck of the draw on who gets the home tie. |

Alright fella, who rattled your cage? A simple no would have sufficed.

Regarding luck of the draw this has always been the case in first 6 rounds so why change it now?

Isn't the luck of the draw the founding principle of the FA Cup?

But every other round (apart from the SF/F at neutral venues) the team drawn away knows that if they can get a draw they will then have the advantage of a home tie for the replay. At the moment all the one off knockout ties are at neutral venues.
Of course, replays can go to Extra Time and/or Penalties. Which actually gives the team drawn away from home an inherent advantage in that they have an extra thirty minutes and/or penalties in front of their own fans despite the fact that the two teams are level after playing 90 minutes at each venue. But, hey, that's the luck of the draw... |

And from next season, at the QF stage, the away team will know they won't have that 'advantage'.

Yes, but the team drawn at home as the advantage of winning at home without their opponents getting the opportunity to play at home so that levels it a bit.
That's the way Cup Football works ![]() Next season will be no different in that respect. |

I think it's a good thing for this forum because quite a few members worked themselves up to the point of getting ulcers, trying to work out when the replays would take place, rather than just waiting for the announcements.

BT Sport hosting the draw... Normally the BBC does it? Seems like the BBC are bringing out some pointless reaction cameras.

Mertsam vs Oxford and St.Albans vs Carlisle are the standout ties so far.
If the MK Dons vs Spennymoor had been the other way around that would have been a good call. |

By all means don't refer to MK Dons as 1988 FA Cup winners.
But in no way whatsoever are AFC Wimbledon the 1988 FA Cup winners. Better just to see it that the 1988 winners do not exist anymore. |

Maidstone v Rochdale has the home club's "phoenix from the ashes" story going for it. |
