So Leicester V Everton does not get picked but great to see a game with no Premier League teams in it get picked for TV.

Didn't expect 6 games to be picked. Spurs v Villa I think always had a chance of being picked as Villa are still a fairly big team and only got relegated last season.
Surprised that Cambridge v Leeds has been picked, but good to see out of the 6 picked that not all of them have to involve 1 or 2 PL clubs. Wouldn't have picked Liverpool v Plymouth or Newport to be honest, though they do have some recent history of struggling against lower league opposition in cups I suppose. Normally I wouldn't pick Man Utd v Reading but even ignoring the fact Stam is going back to Old Trafford, Man Utd aren't doing sensational and Reading (last Saturday aside) are going pretty well in the Championship so you could argue there's a reasonable chance for a surprise there especially if Man Utd don't play a full first team, a bit like Middlesbrough away to Man City last season (or the season before, I can't remember). |

Actually, we should have been expecting a sixth game.
It was announced in April when the BBC and BT extended their deal that BT would be showing an extra game from rounds 1 to 5 (although I'm sure they showed the same number in rounds 1 and 2 this season as last?). |

Though we are about to get bought out by some Chinese billionaires so we might have some new players on the 1st Jan

Gives the away sides more of a chance but it's funny when the TV companies big up these games when in Liverpools case there will be some kid's, occasional neutral fans will of never heard of. |

I reckon BT will be delighted with that. They've got Liverpool v Man City on New Year's Eve and Man City v Spurs on 21 January, so they'd have preferred PNE v Arsenal to West Ham v Man City. And getting Man Utd v Reading suggests they did have second and third picks in this round.

Well it is Leeds - probably the most popular side outside of the Premier league for TV games.

http://sport.bt.com/football/news/bt...11364051463786 On a standalone basis, BBC and BT would have had to be compensated for the loss of QF replays which represents a change to their existing 14/18 contracts, mid-contract. However the FA signed new contacts with BBC and BT for 18/21 and it therefore seems likely that the whole thing was bundled together - ie BBC and BT agreed to the changes to 14/18 as part of the deal for signing 18/21. And part of that deal may well have been to let BT start showing an extra game from this season onwards. Of course under the 18/21 contract, BT will have five extra games per season - ie one in each of R1 to R5. So whether they'll also be showing an extra game this season in R4 and R5 we'll have to wait and see - but it could be a possibility. |

They made the right decision to ignore it. If the draw had been even half interesting this sort of tie between two out of form PL sides wouldn't have got a look in.

Here are (I think) the replays shown in the last two seasons.
2014-15 R3 BT - (West Ham v Everton (BT), Ipswich v Southampton (BBC)) R4 BBC - (Bolton v Liverpool (BBC), Man Utd v Cambridge (BT)) R5 No Replay R6 BT - (Blackburn v Liverpool (BT), Reading v Bradford (BBC)) 2015-16 R3 BBC - (Leicester v Spurs (BBC), Bristol City v West Brom (BT), Liverpool v Exeter (BT)) R4 BT - (West Ham v Liverpool (BT), Peterborough v West Brom (BBC)) R5 BT - (Hull v Arsenal (BT)) R6 BBC - (West Ham v Man Utd (BBC)) It looks like one broadcaster gets R3/R6 and the other gets R4/R5 which makes sense given the probability of replays declines as the competition goes on. So it looks like it's BT that's lost out most on the scrapping of R6 replays (as I think they were due to get first pick of R3/R6 replays this season), so that might explain why they got an extra third round tie. It will be interesting to see if the BBC get a third game in next season's third round. |

Any chance Cardiff - Fulham or Hull - Swansea will make it a magnificent seven televised games (on BBC Wales or S4C)?
