Fair play, it might be no harm having an archive such as this on this thread.
I would point out, seeing as the whole debate has come from people moaning about Manchester United being on as opposed to somebody else, a list like this serves no real purpose without people being aware of what other choices the TV companies could've made - I'm not saying you should post it, it can be researched. It might also be helpful to highlight which broadcaster showed which game, if you have that information. As I have said, it is a misnomer to talk about so many consecutive fixtures when there have been 6 TV companies doing the picking across the years - BBC, ITV, Setanta Sports, Sky Sports, ESPN and BT Sport. I have gone back to the friend who told me about the Liverpool stat; he actually got it from a Liverpool website last year when this whole "consecutive" issue popped up in the newspapers. Ironically they were complaining from an opposite point of view ie that Liverpool should have had every tie shown too. He can't remember which site and also says I may have taken the word "couple" too literally (wolvesdavid might chuckle at that lol). As he couldn't be definitive I have done a quick research and have found that there was actually three Liverpool ties altogether not shown - apart from the one mentioned by wolvesdavid himself there were two others occuring in the same season, back in 2007/8. The third round tie at home to Havant & Waterlooville, in which the Blue Square South club went 1-0, then 2-1 up. I believe it was live in Ireland. Then the following round another home tie, this time a defeat to Barnsley, wasn't televised. I can't confirm whether or not any replays were shown live and there is a possibility that, just like the tie mentioned earlier, that one or more of the ties moved to a Sunday might have been on police advice. I don't think there was any other Sunday games not televised though. I will point out that the above isn't exhaustive.... I will research the whole lot, but have decided that the following rules apply: If Manchester United were drawn away from home they would be a good enough pick to be on TV anyway. If they were drawn at home to another Premier League side it would also be automatically be on TV anyway. And obviously if they were in the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, or the Final they would also be automatically be on TV anyway. So really we are looking for matches when they have been drawn at home in the 3rd, 4th, or 5th rounds, and only then will I research what other matches could have been chosen in the same rounds. I know there will be a few such matches to look up. |

To be fair I wouldn't say for example that Man Utd at home to someone like Crystal Palace would be an automatic pick. Man Utd at home to Liverpool on the other hand would be.

The lure of Manchester United (and again, Liverpool) has proven far too much for the TV companies to ignore over the years. In your example, if it is a 5th round tie it means only 3 of the 8 would not be picked for TV. It is hard to imagine 3 ties more attractive than Manchester United at home to another PL side. And thanks for the reply wolvesdavid. |

Fantastic news for smaller clubs
The Times is reporting that the TV Appearance Fee is going to be abolished and money shared out between all clubs in that round. On Saturday Barrow and Sutton get 27000 Man U get 171000 |

There was also an extended deal signed last year which will see BT regularly show an extra game per round from 3-5. Although it's ambiguous if "from 2018" means from January next year, or from season 2018-19. |

Middlesbrough V Sheffield is not being shown by any broadcasters and Spurs V Villa is a Sunday 4pm kick-off plus you forgot Preston V Arsenal which is on BT tomorrow at 5:30pm. You could also include Cardiff City v Fulham which is being shown on BBC One Wales at 11:30am on Sunday.
Leeds apart ndefinitely try watch as many others as I can assure well. |

For those wondering Jake is hosting the 4th Round draw again from BT Towers on Monday and has also tagged Michael Owen & Martin Keown on his tweet so I assume they will be his guests conducting the draw.
