Hello and welcome to the final episode thread of Boring Gurning Tracy Week. They shoved all the action into the last five minutes of last night’s episode so here’s hoping tonight’s is a good ‘un. **readers and lurkers alike please do not hold your breath** Tonight sees the exit of a 21st Century Corrie icon and the unearthing of a camp gangster body from Gail’s manhole. We haven’t had this much action since Gail and Rodwell cemented their relationship!

Thursday 26th May 2016 – Corrie Episode Discussion Thread

21:00

30 minutes

Director
Michael Lacey

Producer
Stuart Blackburn

Writer
Jan Mc Verry

Coming up tonight:

Gail’s granny flat finally gives up its gruesome secret as a body is found in her manhole. Is it Martin Platt? As the murder investigation begins, David, Kylie and Sarah get a visit from some useless soap police who will be incompetent at their job.

Meanwhile, Carla prepares to bid farewell to Weatherfield. I’m just surprised its taken the tragic heroine widow ten years to make this decision. So many happy memories on the Street; Death of her husband Paul, marrying Crazy-Eyed Tony who killed her lover and held her hostage in the factory, raped by Frank and then becoming a suspect in his murder, not to mention a temporary alcoholic, knocking down St. Stella, having an affair with Peter Barlow who then had an affair with Manchester’s best barmaid, miscarrying her baby, her brother killing her husband’s floozy, finding out Johnny’s her father and Aidan & Kate are her half-siblings and igniting a feud with Tracy which saw her involved in a minibus crash, flat fire, robbery and car stunt. Phew! She’s packed a lot into those ten years. Fresh from knocking down annoying Cathy, will she be able to repair her relationship with Roy before she leaves? Here’s hoping.

Thanks to Purves, notdebbie, Collie, Rita, aggie and Belligerence for the last six threads.

Excellent thread. More interested to see what they do with Roy now that Carla has left, she's one of his few close friends beside Cathy.

Thanks for the thread dj

I do like Jenny Bradley being back (one of the few things that The Hat has got right) but this week has been rather underwhelming overall....

Wonder when the episode will start? Really it should begin where the last left off and perhaps move to the next day after the break.

It could feel very rushed. It seems like it should be an hour-long episode with the first 1/2 parts showing the immediate aftermath of last night and the second 2/3 showing the next day, police and Carla's exit.

Hi all!
No problem. I read it was Jonathan Harvey and Julie Jones who pitched the idea.

She should have added 'Or get scripted into pulling so many miserable faces'

Begs the question why they had to make the first 3 episodes so slow.

Really they could have been condensed into two episodes and then tonight's could have been expanded into two. Poor pacing.

I can't recall the day ever changing during an episode so I imagine it'll start the next morning. In which case it's really poor pacing.

I recall it having done so before but I can't remember specifics.

Agreed though. Not ideal. So much potential for good scenes in the immediate aftermath of David telling Kylie and Sarah. In real life they wouldn't sleep all night. They should just play the whole thing through the night, but then that doesn't give Carla time to say her goodbyes.

Shoddily paced, really, I'm not expecting it to be what it could have been if they'd condensed the pre-wedding stuff to 1 or 2 episodes out of 5 instead of nearly 4.

I agree, terrible pacing. All that nonsensical drivel that took up 90% of yesterdays episode could have been cut bar the Gail slap so we could have had a whole episode for the crash and immediate aftermath to play out.

I think it was Sunday's episode that was the most unnecessary. If I wanted to I could edit Sunday and Monday's episodes to be the length of one episode with no key information missing whatsoever. I could probably do it with Sunday, Monday AND Tuesday to be honest.

Evening all!!
Thanks for a great thread Dj!!
Tony & Carla's wedding is one of my favourite ever episodes!!

How much better were the current characters written back then!!
Great mix of comedy, drama & nowadays nostalgia

Love it when it all kicks off with Sally, Maria & Rosie later on!!

Anyway let's hope tonight makes some great Corrie memories too eh!!

Glorious thread, dj ... you're such a pro!

So, erm, Carla leaves tonight? No police investigation into the accident? Surely she was drink driving?

Hmm....

As others have said, though, good riddance to her.

James, you could probably do that with the past 2 or 3 years ...

One big shame about Carla's exit for me is the fact that they have invented her family to carry on the Connor legacy at the factory reminiscent of the onslaught of never before before mentioned Baldwins before Mike died, instead of just letting it move on and ideally let the site become something else.

I bet she drives Carla to the station (sloshed of course) and gives her a pep talk on how to handle herself on the way in.
