Grace is very much a woman who is the product of her upbringing and struggles to understand life beyond it despite her best efforts. The number of times she told Trevor to "man up" and sees the solution to many things as violence if not murder. Despite Grace's undoubted love for Curtis if I were Esther I'd be very fearful of how Grace's ethics trickle down to him.
Speaking of Curtis did Grace ever actually adopt him or did he just live with her and Trevor by virtue of the fact Trevor was the official father? I don't think legally genetics come into it from Grace's perspective. Whilst I can't see Esther taking Curtis away from Grace, certainly not in the short term, I wonder if it will resurface as an issue later like if Grace and Trevor weren't legally married then Curtis is his next of kin and benefactor.
