Panasonic DVD Recorder Not Reading DVD RAM Disc Side B

Can anyone explain as to why Side B of the DVD RAM Disc isn't being read by the DVD Recorder?

I've already cleaned it and still not readable.

Is it just one disc that isn't being read or all of them. The answer will determine whether it is a player or disc issue.

Sorry if this seems like a silly question but are you sure that athe DVD-RAM disc is double sided?
I have dozens of RAM discs and all of them single sided.
Double sided RAM discs normally(but not always) came in a caddy.

If you have access to a PC or laptop with DVD writer try the disc in that as most will handle DVD-RAM

On some occasions, some of them, but not all of them.

Yeah, it's a double sided DVD RAM disc.

I have tried it with the DVD Writer that I have and same thing.

Is it possible to transfer data from the DVD RAM disc to another DVD RAM Disc or should I go to a service centre?

To transfer the data from one disk to another requires the source disk to be readable. If you cannot read it then you can't copy the data across.

If you cannot read the disk in any drive you have then that suggests a disk problem rather than a device problem. Unless by some weird freak of circumstance both devices have exactly the same issue playing double sided disks. Much more likely is the disk is cream crackered in some way.

Just out of interest does your player read both sides of the disk without needing to eject it and turn it over? If so what happens if you put the disk in upside down? If the player can now read the B side (which is effectively the A now) and cannot read the A side then that suggests an issue with the B side reader. If however it cannot read the B side whichever way up you insert the disk then you have a disk issue.

No it doesn't read both sides of the disk, if it was a disk issue, then how come I was able to copy onto it a few months ago?
