Impressionists
Forgive me if these have been covered, but:
(1) What must the impressionist double act have thought to some of the rubbish that got through to the semis (Davros, etc.), simply to give 'balance' to the 'variety' on display? (2) The guy who won on Friday doesn't do impressions, he replicates character voices, i.e. copies someone else 'putting on' a voice. The judges described this as 'modern' but how many decades old are the Muppets, for example? |

Also, since when is an impressionist barred from doing character voices? Some of the biggest impressionists in the '70s did Frank Spencer, and it's been this way ever since - Victor Meldrew, David Brent etc. I'd say most impressionists do characters, in fact.

It was a shocking decision not to put the two impressionists through. Surely the joke acts should end at the audition stage not end up on the live shows?

I think upbeat cheesy pop works better.

1. Everyone I've seen doing his act does the same thing - that's how you can assess the quality before he moves onto the next one. 2. Related to one, he's singing predefined lyrics to a song so there is no context and thus needs a clue. 3. He not only does impressions but sings in those voices in tune. In contrast, the two impressionists everyone raves about not only were rubbish at some of them and used the alphabet as a cheap gimmick to get through as many as possible, but they also said who they were doing. Lost on me. |

They had a new series in 2014 shown here on Sky, and they've had the Warburton's advert

I'm not raving about them, but they were way better than some of the stuff in the semis. Disagree that they were rubbish at any, and BTW the solo impressionist who got through had voices that were not as recognisable as some panel members seemed to think (I still think the sound systems on different TV sets have an effect); and the singing guy was not 'all that' on Minnie Mouse... apart from that, thank you all for making some good points
- DRThe young lad was awful, bar his McIntyre. We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. How strange, I thought his Mickey and Minnie were bang on and I really love Disney, even spent my 30th at Disneyland

If you closed your eyes you'd be hard pressed to identify 90% of his voices. Utter crap.

Good points, but the world and his wife can 'do' Kermit, Miss Piggy, The Simpsons et al...
And this "world and his wife" aren't entering BGT in their droves so it can't be that easy...

I didn't mean you specifically. It's just all over the forum there are people raving about those two and then there's about as much backlash against Craig. There has to be some overlap there.
