In order to give more of a advantage to those who win there semi final would it be fairer to seed the running order as oppose to what I believe is a random draw for now

I would do something like this

First two on - The two wild cards

Next Four- Random draw - acts who came runner up in there semi final

Final four- Acts who won there semi final

This would also ensure the more popular ( and supposedly) better acts would be left for a big finish

Your thoughts please

I think that would just make it biased. I personally like to judge each act on their performance in the final, otherwise we may as well just vote now for our favourite finalist based on their semifinal performance. At this point, I'd be willing to vote for almost any act (apart from the ballroom dancers and the mother and son because they're just not my cup of tea).

Not really as the premise is that you would still be able to vote for any act. The only difference would be a reward for winning the semi final as oppose to having to rely on luck of the draw.

What would be interesting is to see where each act finished in respect of where they were on the running order and in that respect why should someone who scraped through have a prime slot where someone who won there semi final be given a poorer slot.

It wouldn't make any difference to me as I watch it all the way through but just wondered how much being on last was

The show is not just a competition. It is a series of variety shows designed to attract viewers. The order in which the acts perform is, surely, determined by what is a good order to entertain viewers regardless of the relative merits of the acts, although, obviously, it wouldn't make sense to open and close the shows with weak acts. The producers need to choose a running order that will keep the viewers viewing so that they will see the adverts.

After all, from a business point of view the show is a free gift to viewers so that they will see the adverts because it is the money paid by advertisers that provides an income for the broadcasting and programme production companies.

That wouldn't work. First of all there are 12 performers in the final and you have only counted 10. Secondly if this approach was taken for future BGT finals then what if all the winners of the semi's were singers? It would get very samey for the last half an hour or so. You would need to break up the performances throughout the show so it's: singer/dancer/variety etc etc.

The fact that the winner performed second means that anyone can win!

Yes, any soldier in uniform can win if they drag out a 90 year old former soldier and give a story to exploit votes.
