Hello all,

Managed to finish building my separates system. Got myself a Technics CD player (SL -PG500A ) and FM tuner (ST-G70L ) off ebay - lovely bits of kit. I'm late 20's so was not around when Technics was still making HIFI equipment Was there stuff made by Panasonic?

Technics like Panasonic was a brand name used by Matsushita Electronics.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technics_(brand)

Their stuff was good, mid-range hifi equipment - with the exception of the SL1200 turntable which achieved legendary status among DJ's as the deck to have.

Higher end brands from that time were Denon, Rotel, NAD and Yamaha - all of which are still producing varying amounts of kit.

I have a Technics DAB tuner, model ST-GT1000 which I bought new many years ago. It was quite pricy then and still seems to be offered on ebay at decent prices.
Solidly built and easy to use.

I use Technics seperates still for sound from my TV.

Had it since 1999 and it still sounds awesome. Only downside is it uses RCA not optical cable which might let the sound down I feel But I cant replace it.

It has 4 decks (Amp SA-EH760, Tape deck, CD Deck and processor SH-EH760) I only use the Amp and processor though.

I can also mute it and turn the volume up and down with my Xbox One Media remote but only when the Xbox One.

But its an amazing system

Looks a great system, when I was browsing ebay for my new system saw a few like that and they are still attracting a lot of interest.

My home hifi is all Technics bought new in 1989/90. All in perfect working order as well. I think they were the best of the japanese mass produced hifi gear, and the unusual dark green/black controls and hold writing hasn't dated like plain black or silver gear..

Amp is a SUVX700. Mega power and clear sound.
Built to last! And last! And then some!

I had at various times Pioneer, Nad, Rotel amps. All good.

eventually moved all the electronics to Sony, including a minidisc player, although I still have a Toshiba tuner, with a giant tuning flywheel. No presets!

Turntable is a Rega Planar 3. I think it cost me £20 for a new rubber band!
