I really love the relationship they have! Thought it was clever of EE to have them together in the room where Peggy & Pat were last seen, the parallels between them are clear! More Sharly please!

The bed sheet (or duvets?... Whatever it was) dialogue made it obvious they're becoming the new Pat/Peggy style frenemies.

Sharon and Shirley could be the new Pat and Peggy. I love their scenes together, I always end up laughing. I like the way they insult each other but end up being there for each other. It could be a good friendship if explored more, plus they both have Phil Mitchell in their life at some stage, just like Pat and Peggy had with Frank Butcher.

EastEnders doesn't begin and end with Pat and Peggy and I never really liked either especially Pat.
Pauline, Angie, Dot and Lou all made a far bigger impression on me.

Lou was brilliant. They tried to make pauline another version of her but she just came across bitter which was a shame. Wonder what Lou would make of all the Beale shenanigans!

In hindsight the downfall of the Beale family begun when Lou died. Everything just gradually fell apart from when her death occurred.

Yes they are good in scenes together. The first thing I thought when they were in Peggy's room was the new Peggy and Pat.

Ive started to like Shirley again the past few months. I much prefer her when she's not being a shitstirrer, Babe is just so much better at it. Shirley works better when she's there supporting others and not judging them for their actions due to the fact she's made bad decisions in her own life. A role that Pat used to have.

She works so much better as a friend of Phils than as a romantic partner. She's been good the past few weeks, supporting Phil through his alcoholism and being there for him over Peggy.

I don't think she works well with Buster, but then I have issues with him being part of the Carter family full stop. He doesn't seem to gel well with any of them.

Sharon is of course brilliant anyway, she's simply fabulous as the Mitchell matriarch and I hope that they keep it that way.

If Denise is pregnant with Phils baby, I wonder what effect that will have on the friendship she has with Shirley and the budding friendship of Sharon and Shirley. I can see Shirley being conflicted for a whole number of reasons.

I always thought they worked better as frenemies/friendly rivals than when they were warring and bitching over Phil. It never felt natural. Part of me thinks they only pitted them against each other in the show because they saw the Shirley vs Sharon posts on this forum

Loved their scenes last night. The beginning of a great partnership, hopefully. I can even see them running the Vic together in Linda's absence

I just hope its not leading to a Shirley and Phil affair. I reckon Buster is on the way out once this Kathy thing is exposed.

I just hope they give them fresh dialogue and scenes not just re-hash of Peggy and Pat dialogue and scenes.

Shirley and Sharon are my favourite characters and I always enjoy their scenes. I'm pleased Shirley is getting more scenes with Sharon and Kathy. Shirley has a soft spot for Sharon sometimes and I thought she gave some good advice to her about Phil in yesterday's episode. I think they have potential to be the new Pat and Peggy.

I love them. I said to LHolmes a while ago that I hope Shirley and Sharon never leave. Always watchable even in the worst of episodes. Probably my top 3 in the show along with Philth. Shirley has come a long way since Dean left and is back to her pre-Hev's death characterisation. Sharon is just marvellous. Together they're perfection.

They need to be kept as Sharon and Shirley rather than become a Peggy and Pat tribute act.

The love for Shirley only really extends as far as this forum which is why she has remained as a supporting character for the ten years she was on EastEnders.

Possibly so but she's a lot more valuable a character than that washed up lush Denise or that poison dwarf Carmel. It might be a small fanbase for Shirley but she's earned it.
