Have had my Humax foxsat-hdr since they first came out so quite a while but have had an issue with it thats getting worse over time and wonder if anyone else has it or is the box starting to fail.

When i put it on hold, no matter whether its a live station or recorded the sound keeps going for a few seconds, then when i play again the sound is missing for a few seconds.

Any ideas please, the box has been really good with no other issues but the sound issue is starting to get longer in time.

My Hummy is getting old now having also been bought the first week it was released for sale and the thing with the sound carrying on for a few seconds and not restarting for a few seconds after using the pulse has more or less always been like that and for sure the past 5 years it has so don’t worry too much about its failure.

With mine the past 2 years I get a hellish loud BEEP when I press the stop button and I don’t know what that’s all about but these HDR's just seem to keep going and going and in some respects I’d be glad when it fails all together then I could buy a nice up to date one, but then again, would I be getting a better machine.

I have always had this issue on my Foxsat-PVR but only get it on HD channels - I always assumed it is something to do with the decoding of the sound signal. Never have the same issue with SD channels. I experimented and found that if you switch off Dolby Digital in the TV Setup menu the problem disappears. I expect this problem has become more obvious as there are now more HD channels than when the box first came out. Back then most people's problems were with lip-sync on HD channels, a problem that now seems to have been resolved. I've just accepted the sound lag on pause as a peculiarity of this model and not a latent defect.

Just a thought ... the only down-side that I can think of is that if you have a fancy surround or home cinema set setting Dolby off you will probably loose the spatial effects. Not sure if this setting affects the Toslink output or just the TV sound.

Forces the digital audio outputs (toslink and hdmi) to output lpcm stereo for all channels. If the fancy surround has a proper ac3 5.1 decoder I doubt you will get the delay issue anyway. Not noticed a problem with my Foxsat with the Yamaha AV reciever it's connected to.

Seems to be related to how some TV's handle ac3 audio.

I've got a Sony HT-ST3 4.1 sound bar connected to`my two Humaxs and Sony TV via Toslink and HDMI - it has Dolby True HD, DTS HD Master Audio, DTS-HD and 7.1 LPCM via HDMI, as well as Dolby Digital, DTS and DTS 96/24.decoders and I still get the sound lag when using the Foxsat PVR. But as I said before to me it is just a peculiarity and I am used to it so it doesn't bother me.

Think i'll just live with it, I have tried and all remains the same, have a sound bar and with or without it remains the same. If it gets worse then tough its only on recordings

Does pressing the back skip key work after the box has re-synched the ac3 track.
