As far as I'm aware, to use the 'Freeview HD' logo, the set needs to be Full HD - just having a 'tuner' doesn't allow use of the logo.

You seem to have amazing confidence in people who sell baked beans understanding anything at all about electronics ![]() But quite often, even the manufacturers websites get the details incorrect as well ![]() Obviously Tesco (or any supermarket) treat the consumer electronics goods they sell as commodities. Expertise and advice in choosing the right TV is not given and may not always be needed by the customer, just as advice isn't given when choosing tins of baked beans. They do need to have accurate descriptions of products though, or they might fall foul of the law. That should be within the competencies of any seller. |

![]() There have been a number of threads on these forums about mistakes, usually aimed at Argos - in pretty well all cases the mistakes were by the manufacturers, with Argos simply copying the data from them. |

The law is the law and if there are errors and a consumer got trading standards involved then.... It's not really about expecting retailers to know better than the manufacturers.
Perhaps it would better if all involved took giving an accurate descriptions of products more seriously, instead of joking and accepting the status quo. BTW, what would be the correct term for a TV capable of receiving and displaying Freeview HD channels, but that only had a 720 display? I assume "HD Ready" wouldn't be right, as that would not necessarily convey to the consumer that the TV could show any of the HD channels available via Freeview. |

It's no different in practice from my HD Ready TV being fed with a full HD signal from my Sky+ HD box, which my TV can accept but not display at full resolution. |

HD Ready with Freeview HD, or words to that effect.
