You get 1,000 free texts when you buy a new T-Mobile phone on PAYG and the first time you top up £15 or more online you get 100 free texts credited to your PAYG account.

I got my new t mobile PAYG in April, and I have free texts for 3 months. I am very impressed. it was only a cheap phone, and I usually only use it for texts anyway.

Or orange you get ten times as many, 3000, for £15 top up a month, admittedly these can only be used off peak though.

Perhaps he means he is on Virgin now, so he can become a new member of t-mobile and hence get the free texts.
