At 8914 episodes aired we're getting reasonably close to episode 9,000, by my calculations it should air mid to late September. What do people think the show is going to do, a special hour long episode? A stunt? Just carry on as normal?

Also where the hell is the Corrie wiki article for Episode 1000, episode 999 is there, episode 1001 is there and it completely ignores 1000?

I see what you mean it jumps straight from 999 to 10001 , strange? Regarding the 900th episode, you say it will air roughly in Mid September, this would tie in nicely with the start of Kate Oates stuff on screen which we were expecting late August / early September, so maybe she will plan something for it, would be a great way of her starting her time at corrie! What did they do for the 8000th episode?

Does this help?
http://coronationstreet.wikia.com/wi...Times_Souvenir

"Coronation Street, a TV Times special to mark the programme’s one-thousandth episode, was a sixty-four page magazine published in July 1970 at the price of two shillings (ten pence) in time for the broadcast of what was publicised as the noteworthy episode on 19th August (but which was in reality Episode 999)."

What's really odd is that the dates for ep.999 (Wed.19-8-1970) and ep.1001 (Mon.24-8-1970) are correct as there was no Friday episode in those days

IMDb shows ep.1000 as being shown on 24-8-1970

So are subsequent episodes after 999 incorrectly numbered on Coronation Street.wikia?

Wednesday 12 August - down as Episode 997
Monday 17th August - down as Episode 998
Wednesday 19th August - down as Episode 999
Monday 24th August - down as Episode 1001
Wednesday 26th August - down as Episode 1002
Monday 31st August - down as Episode 1003
Wednesday 2nd September - down as Episode 1004

There's only two possible answers given this:

The one marked as Episode 1001 is actually Episode 1000 - as it broadcast on the day we'd expect Ep 1000 to broadcast. If this is the case every further episode is mis-numbered. This seems most likely

The episode advertised as 1000 - i.e episode 999 in the wiki, was actually Episode 1000 meaning that an episode is missing from before episode 999, perhaps a special episode broadcast for an event, or an unaired episode that hasn't been picked up?

Carry on as normal, I expect. The last time they marked a big number was Episode 5000 in 2001. Besides, the 10000th episode is only four years away and I expect that will be huge.

There is no Episode 1000. Corriepedia follows ITV's numbering system where the 999th episode was promoted as the 1000th and the next episode was numbered 1001. See this article http://coronationstreet.wikia.com/wiki/Production_codes

Isn't there a chance the 60th anniversary could be very very near the 10,000th episode?

Well that is utterly insane. That means that the 10000th episode could be the 9956th or something ridiculous by the time you account for all the inaccuracies. No wonder they don't want to release the lot, it'd show how much fewer episodes than their claims have actually been broadcast.
