Blackpool would be ideal setting for a soap
The area boasts
- lots of hotel rooms for hire as offices / studios / character bedrooms / etc - trams - a beach setting - so lots of Home and Away style scenes, seaside bistro etc - cul de sacs and streets - boarding school -space for studios - tourists coming and going, surf club - funfair & tram disasters, sea storms etc - pubs It could be called "Blackpool Bay" and be a mixture of 90s Home & Away, Brookside, Family Affairs and Eastenders. |

I feel we've had more than enough northern soaps.
It would be nice to have one set somewhere else in Britain for a change, like the midlands or the west country. |

Great idea IMO!
ITV could do it three times a week in 30 minute slots. Maybe Tuesday 8pm, Thursday 8pm, Friday 8.30pm (Corrie would move back to Sunday from Fri 8.30pm). |

EastEnders not enough?
![]() In all seriousness I'd love a Geordie soap that focuses on real peoples day to day lives to try and counteract the Geordie Shore image we're getting lumbered with. I've actually written a few episodes for one, although there in absolute verbal diarrhorea unedited form. |

Somewhere other than London or the North, would make a refreshing change. |

I'd like to see a soap set in Wales but not in Welsh. Having lived in Wales throughout my childhood I know there's a strong sense of community. Although I can speak fluent Welsh many people where I lived didn't so it wouldn't be unrealistic. I feel it would be different rather than a soap set in England.

I don't think there'll ever be a new soap on British TV. The current ones take up most of the available slots and It's much easier and cost effective to just increase the episode tally for an established show than to risk enormous amounts of time and money on a risky new venture.
