Come on guys - it might be amusing to vote for Jay, but he'd make a terrible judge! I think Matthew Bourne would be far too busy. We need to have a ballroom/Latin expert as the 4th judge. So Ian, Karen, someone like that.

I know some of you think Aliona, but I'm not really sure she'd make a good judge. While she would have great expertise, I don't know if she has the ego.

I doubt the BBC will give two hoots about who wins some radio times poll, we could vote for the Queen and they'd ignore it.
If they appoint a Burn The Floor person we might as well have Dancing With The Stars
If they appoint Karen Hardy it'll be a gurn fest. Ditto if Craig becomes head judge, it might as well be Panto.

And personally I can't forgive Ian waites alleged bitchy remark about Aliona at his and Natalie's show.

I'd prefer a ballroom based person. Or Arlene as Head judge, if they want proper dance experience.

BIB I actually think Aliona would be well able to stand up for her self and give an opinion.
She is qualified and has expertise in Ballroom and Latin
However its academic as RT didn't include her in this poll which lists some totally inexperienced individuals


BIB1 - Agree TPTB at SCD will appoint who they want to that role next year
BIB2 - Ideally I would love to see Arlene back but, given how badly treated she was by SCD, I doubt she would return

I think Aliona being appointed as a judge is probably unlikely, but I couldn't help imagining that in a hypothetical world it would really ruffle Brenda's feathers.

ETA: I agree Polly, the Radio Times poll is a bit of tongue-in-cheek fun. I voted for Jay over Lisa Riley

In my view Aliona's very well qualified to be a first class judge. She's an excellent choreographer; far, far better than Borewood could ever hope to be, an excellent dancer who understands the difficulties contestants face, and knows how to give constructive criticism without resorting to the cheap tactics we saw last year.

Jay would be honest, kind and constructive, three things that were also sadly lacking last year. I think there would absolutely be room for him on a well balanced panel.

I wouldn't underestimate his presenting potential either.
