A point has been bothering me since I seconded the word "naive" last night to describe J. As it can be derogatory by definition, I meant it only in the way of trusting, unsophisticated, ingenuous, unsuspecting, artless, unsuspicious, guileless and unaffected. As Naive can be a disparaging word, I would never use it on its own to describe J without qualifying it; in fact I would always use another adjective in its stead to avoid misunderstandings.
Back later.

Rafferty, that was BRILLIANT. The whole shebang, from start to future. Most definitely your Magnum Opus, and I really hope Jay gets to see it. Switch off the light, close the door, Strictly's ended but the future holds more.... ![]() Whiffle - soixante-neuf questions! Could go either way.... Must have taken ages to compile that lot, well done! Quote:
Seeing as the bits that didn't make the final poem are just words and phrases scribbled on scraps of paper and ideas in my head, there isn't anything else in postable form Hannah.
Loving your epic work Rafferty (snipped for brevity). It will appear in the next edition of the poetry collection. ![]() Since each edition is an update of the previous one, including any corrections, you need only link to the most recent one. To the best of my knowledge, files don't expire on DropBox. ![]() If anyone can't access it on DropBox, just let me know and I can upload it to Google Docs as well. isih, StrictlyRed, Korky, ahouch, hannah, whiffle, Lola, Fred, Polly-T, and Jayfan. Many thanks to you all for your kind comments in response to my recent poems. I have listed you in the order in which your posts appeared on the thread. Please forgive me if I have missed anyone. Thank you also to those I might have missed previously. As a newbie to poetry-writing, I very much appreciate your words of encouragement. Hannah. I'm loving your poems, it's such fun isn't it? I'm still darting between here and the previous Part (Part 5 was it?), trying to catch up. Beginning to think it's a bit of a hopeless task. But then the thought of leaving buried treasure, unearthed, keeps me going back, again and again, to read every post. Ho-hum. I've been the same since Part 1. #1. |

I wish to extend my thanks to each friend
On this thread, for their kind words expressed In response to my odes, They have given me loads More confidence to do my best. I'm surprised to find, that I have the mind To write verses at all, it's quite funny. I would never have dreamt That I'd make this attempt. I certainly would not have bet money. But here I stand, with my pen in my hand Wondering "should I write more?" Perhaps I'll just say In my roundabout way That I'm grateful, and head for the door. |

Good morning All,
Just a quick post to let you know I'm still here reading everything and really appreciate everyone's contributions, in whatever form they take. I've just caught up on the 'Big' news. It seems that our J may need to be more careful in future with the timing of his follows if he doesn't want us to rumble him! I'm not really sure how I feel about the casting yet. I may need some time for it to soak in. I wonder if they've done any further publicity shoots so we can get an idea of the look the others might have on stage? And possible chemistry? The one with Gary Wilmott looks very joyful. I like Dianna Vickers, but she isn't that old. In the film the Susan character was a pretty successful executive and so was older I think. This worked well alongside the boyish naivety of Josh. It will be interesting to see how they style her etc. Denise Is not that young anymore so is perfect to play the mother of a 12 year old. I'm not sure how much time she'll have on the stage as the character takes up very little screen time. So those who aren't keen on her may not need to suffer too long! I'm agnostic. Anyway enough rambling. I went to bed late again after writing most of Ch 8 of the fan fiction. I've read it back and made myself blush. And I'm still not finished ! 😳😳 McG - it sounds like you could provide me with plenty of material!😉 I love hearing that you've had another J dream on Twitter. Keep on sharing!😂 Have a good day all. Xx |

Listening to 2fm and they have just "announced" four cast members for Big, DVO, Diana Vickers, Gary Wilmot and Irwin Sparkes, confirming the link that nelliek posted.
Bit of a damp squib, no big hurrah, but I suppose the news was all over Twitter already. As others have surmised, DVO will probably play Josh's mum, so her stage time may be limited. ![]() Hannah, two more limericks! ![]() I suspect your screen problem is with your device and not DS ![]() Rafferty, another poem! ![]() Korky, we all knew that you meant naive in the nicest sense — a lack of pretentiousness and guile ![]() Lindy, agree, can't wait to see that Big smile light up the stage. Polly, have a great holiday in Spain, hope you remain blister-free.

Now I can go back to editing review ![]() I am guessing DVO will be the Mom too. Is Diane Vickers the girl who was on X Factor a few years ago or am I thinking of someone else completely ![]() BIB2 - I hope so too - am just so relieved that the strike was called off and can go walking up and down. Have a lovely Bank Holiday week-end and hope sun lasts whole week-end too

Overall, that's a healthy casting for BIG, although the 'announcement' itself was rather underwhelming. All set now for full-on promos, let's hope we get to see and hear more from Jay.
![]() Hopefully, ticket sales will start to fly now...glad we Jalionistas had a chance to get in before the rush #bestseats ![]() ETA Polly, yes Diana was the X-Factor girl who preferred to sing barefooted. Distinctive voice. |

I like what I see — same type of self-deprecatory humour as J, and some lip rubbing going on

![]() What happened that you can't add pics, gifs etc? Did you do an upgrade? Last night I was trying to multi quote when it went to error 404. Closed down that page (didn't log out---never do) reopened DS and wham bam thank you mam I had a new format. Didn't ask for it, I'm sure I didn't do anything to upgrade and I don't like it. So many things missing on my poor little phone. In the words of Katherine Jenkins "I'm going down the garden to eat worms" (sulk) Oh well off to Currys I suppose |

Speedy, do you know anything about Irwin Sparkes from The Hoosiers?

GSOH as you say. Like his voice but The Hoosiers were never my thing. 35 yo so I imagine he'll take the part of the workplace rival from the film. Are you excited DD? Silly question really. Hate wishing time away but BIG can't come along too soon!! ![]() ![]() Ditching the laptop in favour of tablet now...then it's work for me

I'm not a DVO fan, either, but, nevertheless, am happy with the casting. Think it's good for Jay to have really experienced musical theatre people to work with. Also, I think it's a plus that seasoned performers are happy to sign up for it. I shall just have to take earplugs for use when DVO is on ...

Denise VO actually has a nice singing voice in my opinion and is suitable for musical theatre. She did a duet with Andy Williams a few years ago.
Gary Wilmott is great. We saw him in Me and My Girl a while back and it was so funny. |

Xx I can see this look working for Diana. http://cache4.asset-cache.net/gc/105...lM8BGpAQ%3D%3D The Susan character seemed to be ambitious and had had relationships with a few of the executives, so I would say still low-ish on the exec rankings in the film. My guess is that Denise will play Josh's mum. Irwin Sparkes plays the jealous rival exec? He is 5' 6" tall, so hard to imagine him giving Jay a bloody nose and getting away with it? The racket ball sequence is probably not in the Play. Gary Wilmot plays the Chief exec by the looks of the keyboard photo. |
